Chapter 5

It was awkward at the table between Carly, Damien and me.

"Uh, I think I'll just go," I blurted out.

"Erm, maybe we should go, too, Carly," Damien said.

Carly just glared at me.

"Uh, thanks for the coffee, bye," I smiled.

He waved and I walked back to my house, confused. What was Damien to me? And what was Jason to me? Where was my mate?

-Your mate? I want a mateeeeee, tooooo!-

"God, shut up," I thought.

-No. Anyways, I really like Damien. Too bad he's on the bad side. *hiss*-

"I like Damien, too. But I like him as a brother type. And just to let you know, wolves don't hiss."

-Now they do.-

"I bet no one has a stubborn wolf like you."

-Actually, you haven't met Jason's wolf. *Shudder*-

"What's wrong with his wolf?"

-Well, Jason hugged you, his wolf and I connected for a minute, to get to know each other. His wolf was trying to make me submit, so I had to be mean.

*Whimper* So, I don't think you and Jason will be mates anytime soon.-

"But he already imprinted on me."

-Yeah, I don't really get why he did. When someone imprints, their wolves have to connect, in a positive way, even if one person didn't imprint with the other. I'm confused. *Growl*-

"Well he seems to like me a lot. And until I find my other mate, I will have to be stuck with him."

-But, Ellen! I don't like his wolf! I DON'T LIKE BLONDISH WOLVES. I WANT BLACK. *hiss*-

"But you're a black wolf. And what if my other mate isn't a black wolf?"

"I just know he's going to be black! And he's going to be big and strong and protect me! And we have to match!"

"Wow, planning for the future, I see."

-Yes! I got the wedding down, too!-

"You're an excited little mutt. If I don't find the other mate quickly, then I'll be stuck with Jason and be an alpha with him. Or my other choice is give up the alpha position."

-*Groan* I DON'T LIKE JASON AND HIS WOLF. If you mate with Jason I will force u to change and then kill him.-

"Just give it some time. We'll find my other mate soon, I promise."

-Fine. Do whatever is best. *Nudge* I'm going to sleep now!-

"Do whatever you want. I'm going to sleep, too. Goodnight."

I climbed into bed and turned off the light.

I woke up to a bright morning. *Yawn*

I walked downstairs to find James eating cereal with Andi.

"Hi guys!" I said and smiled brightly.

"Hi, Ellen. Andi was quite a handful!" James said.

"I'm sure she was!" I replied.

"Sissy! I met my future husband there!" Andi giggled.

"Who would that be?" I asked with my eyebrow raised.

"His name is Alec! Isn't it a pretty name?!" She exclaimed.

"Who is Alec?" I asked James.

"He's my son. He's twelve years old, and I think... Alec imprinted on Andi..." He said apologetically.

"Wow. 3 years apart. But are you sure? Andi is a little young..."

"They can mate at anytime, as long as they can shift. And, when we got home, Alec was in his wolf form, and then he immediately went for Andi. He wouldn't let her go for the whole time."

"Uh, wow. What a surprise..."

"Yeah. Are you ok with it?"

"I'll be fine. It's best for Andi." I said and picked her up and spun her around.

After James left, there was an unexpected letter in my mailbox.

It read:

Dear Ellen (And Andi if she's ok),

I'm sorry to say, your father is dead. He died yesterday. I'm really sorry that we left you guys alone, but it was for the best. We were on an important mission, until your father was brutally murdered. Don't bother to go to the police with this; it was to do with other werewolves and vampires. I will be home when I have completed your father's mission. After I am done, I will be back soon. And I hope you find your mate soon.

I love you.

Tears spilled out of my eyes and onto the little piece of paper. Mom had sent me a real diamond necklace, in the shape of a small heart.

I missed her so much...

I quickly wiped away my tears. I had to be strong. I had to be strong for dad and mom.

I had to be the best alpha there was. I needed to try my hardest until mom came home for her mission.

I would be strong... For her and Andi...

I practically memorized the note from reading it so much.

I decided that the best thing to do was to call a meeting with the pack.

I waited until night fell before turning into a wolf and running into the woods with Andi on my back.

I made sure she wouldn't fall off.

"This is really awesome, running like this." I thought.

-I know! I love being like this! Also, I just thought of something. The only reason why you didn't imprint on Jason was either he really isn't your mate, or it because you've never seen his human form while in your wolf form.-

"Good point. I'll check up on that in the meeting."

I finally reached the clearing, and howled as loud as I could.

One by one, wolves started appearing out of the darkness. I jumped on a large rock on the edge of the clearing and set Andi down gently.

"Everyone! I have an important announcement to make! My mother is alive! My father died yesterday!" I said inside my mind, and screamed it out to everyone else's mind.

Everyone in the clearing whimpered and howled.

"Also! Everyone turn back into humans! I need to see if any of you are my mates!"

The wolves in the clearing slowly began to transform into humans.

I looked around the clearing, and saw that two people caught my eye. They held me down, as if I needed them to survive.

The two people I disliked.

Nick and Jason.

But why did i feel so disappointed?
