My mother went to my kitchen and checked if I had enough food for the week, I didn't. "Shabella I am going to go to the grocery store and put some food in your kitchen, is there anything specific that you would like?" " just some fruit and some soup please" I said while laying down on the couch. "yes love, now get some sleep and I'll be back after a while" she said while closing the door behind her. I fell asleep and didn't realize that my mother had come back and filled my cabinets and went back home. I got up  off the couch and walked to the kitchen to get something to drink. Then I saw a note that said "I thought you could use a little cheer me up so I got you some chocolates, Sincerely mom" I smiled she new me to well.

I put the note on my refrigerator and walked to the bathroom "only a sponge bath" I sighed I just wanted to take a hot shower. I started to undress myself and saw the stitches in the mirror "this is going to be an ugly scar" I thought to myself. then I started to bathe  once I was done I walked to my bedroom to find something loose and comfortable to wear. I settled with a pair of black running shorts and a navy blue loose tank top. I saw the time was 20 minutes till noon. I wanted to go see Mr. Astori down at the bakery it was a 3 minute walk. I was feeling fine to walk and I had put new clean gauze on.

I walked down to Astori's Bakery. It was small but it had big windows to bring the natural sunlight in, its historical brick building so it had some character. I reached for the door and opened it, I walked in and Mr. Astori greeted me " Oh bambino, you are out. lord has been so sweet to answer my prayers. how are you feeling" I took his arm as he companied me to my usual sit, two tables from the entrance in front of a big window. I smiled and let go of his arm and sat down slowly while Mr. Astori was there if I needed his help. "I feel fine just wanted to come down to visit and see how you were doing." I looked at him. " I am great but no need to worry about me Shabella" then there was a moment of silence " you want the usual". " no not today how about a bagel with cream cheese and some strawberries on the side please?" he looked at me " for you yes"  he walked away and I sat there looking out of the window to the park across the street.

There were kids playing, laughing and people walking their dogs. I heard a plate set down and I looked at it, looked so good and I looked at Mr. Astori " here you love" he said " looks good, smells good thank you." He walked over to  a few tables away there was two other customers. I bit into my bagel and wipe my mouth it felt like it just melted it was so good. So much better than that hospital food I thought tp myself. A few minutes later I heard the bell above the entrance of the door. I looked up and couldn't believe who I saw. The handsome guy from the hospital, but he was in a uniform and had a k-9 with him.

He's a cop I thought to myself. Either he was on his lunch break or he was looking for someone. He was probably 6 foot tall, muscular and did I mention he was handsome. I looked away before he could see me watching him once again. He probably has the girls drooling over him, He's most likely use to it. I continued to eat my lunch.

Mr. Astori greeted the name with a kiss on the guys cheek. the man had to lean down a bit for Mr. Astori to do that.  Then I heard " oh son, how is work?" "It's good, today is pretty boring, nothing much is going on today" he said with a yawn. " it is good world but is very crazy, don't need you hurt" I heard Mr. Astori say. "it's my job father, to protect you, to protect everyone in this town...well mostly everyone." He said as though he had failed. " Son you need to talk to me about these things, not to keep them locked up". As he grabbed ahold the sides of his arms.  His son did not say anything, Mr. Astori continued " you make me very proud" then took his soon to the back of the shop to talk some more.

"son you are a great accomplishment, you have done out community good, you have saved lives" he smiled at his son  while he was cooking up the meal for the other customers. Mr. Astori was thinking to himself, my son is a good man and I am very proud. He has very much courage, he is strong and he is willing to help anyone in need. There was one call that has had him feeling like a failure. He doesn't tell me about these calls, so I have no idea what is going through. I saw Mr. Astori come out with two plates of food and put them on the table where the two customers were.
