"well when is the show, I would like to come" he said while pulling me close to him. " I would love you to come its two Saturdays from now" I said. He was thinking " I may work that weekend but I'll switch with someone to get that weekend off. After that being said we head outside. I locked my door and went down the stairs. Brodie held open the door to his personal truck, I buckled my self in and he shut the door. I watched him go in front of the truck to get to the driver side. " you ready sweetie?" He put the truck into reverse. I smiled " of course".
He put on a little bit of music and he started humming along with the tune I couldn't help but smile, I swear my cheeks were red. He grabbed my hand and kissed it with a grin. "So where are we going? I looked out the truck window we were getting on to the highway. " well I thought we would have a picnic, but there is a river a county over that is nice and not a whole lot of people so we can relax and talk, its about a thirty minute drive hope your okay with that?" he was still holding my hand " yeah that's fine" I smiled and watched us pass some cars. After awhile we finally made it to the river. Brodie got out and opened my door and I took his hand to get out.
He then grabbed the picnic stuff out the back seat and I grabbed the blanket. " where would you like to set everything up?" he said. I looked around and went down a path to the river, I finally found the spot and laid the blanket down and flatten it out. There was big oak trees and full of green leaves and very green grass. Brodie put down the basket and he started to put the food together. We ended up laying the blanket under one the trees in the shade over looking the river. I took my shoes off and sat down on the blanket " are you hungry Shabella" I looked over at him " just a little bit" he took to wine glasses out and some of the wine.
Brodie filled his glass little more than half way, I laughed and asked him " isn't that little much to be having to drive back?" " well yeah but one glass won't hurt and we will be here for a while so it wont effect my driving hun" he said while taking a sip of it. We ate a bit and then Brodie surprised me with a zeppole I smiled and took a bit and let him have the rest. we started to talk about everything. My schooling, his work and why he choose it, from my family to his and I wanted to ask him about his mother and know what type of women she was.
At this time Brodie was sitting on the blanket with his back leaning against the tree. I was laying down with my legs crossed like a lady with my head on his lap facing the river. "Brodie can I ask you something?" He grinned " sure anything" "Can I ask you about your mother?" "what would you like to know" "What was she like? what did she look like?" there was a silence. You could hear the wind blow and bird chirp. "Well, Momma was very sweet just like father is but she was the enforcer in the family. She believed you chased your dreams no matter what life threw at you" he smiled and continued " Mother's parents and fathers parents were very good friends and they arrange a marriage for there kids ma and father got married in their 20's and they had a lot happen. Family business failed quiet a lot before it became the way it is now" I smiled " you don't hear a lot of stories like that anymore do we" I looked at him and he was already smiling at me.
Brodie started putting his fingers thru my hair, and continued to remember his mother.
