Awoken by the sound of O.G. Loko, a song by my favorite band, Of Mice & Men. I rollover to turn off the alarm clock on my bedside table seeing that the time is exactly 7:30 AM meaning my brother and his band mates would be here. My brother was Austin Carlile, vocalist for Of Mice & Men.
I put on my slippers while I took a quick glance into the mirror. The imagery that was reflecting back to me was scattered hair. Oh well, my brother was home as well as Phil, Tino, and Alan. I slowly crept out of my room as I closed my door I turned around and bumped into someone.
I wasn’t for sure who so I said, “Dude, what the hell?”
“Noelle, calm down. It’s me your ginger king!”
I sighed in relief, “Oh, hey Alan.” Why was he up? He’s not your typical morning person…”Noe, I’ve missed you. Do I get a hug?” Alan asked me.
“I’ve missed you, too. And…sure,” He collected me into a warm embrace. Even though Alan isn’t a morning person he smelt damn good, a refreshing lemony scent. Maybe he has new aftershave? Yes, I have a little crush on Alan. Everyone noticed my crush, all except Alan. He was so oblivious to everything, so it didn’t surprise me at the least.
He gently pulled away from my petite body, looked at me and parted his lips as if he was about to tell me something. “Noe, you got some crazy hair goin’ on.” He gently patted down my hair. He smiled, “Come on Noe, I’ll make you some breakfast.” I smiled, I love how Alan called me Noe instead of Noelle, when he comes home from tour and makes breakfast. I could make a book called, A Million Things I Love About Alan Ashby.
He took a grasp of my hand and led me downstairs to the kitchen. He sat me down on the barstool by the island. He was frantically going around the kitchen grabbing random ingredients.
I decided to ask him, “Alan, why are you up so early?”
“Noe, I just felt like getting up this early in the morning. We got here around eleven o’ clock last night, but you wouldn’t know that because you are miss sleeping beauty.” He added his smirk that makes me melt on the inside. “Sorry Alan, I didn’t know my sleeping patterns bothered you.”
“They don’t Noe, you actually look really cute when you sleep.”
Alan did not just say that! The Alan Ashby I’ve had a crush on forever just said that I’m cute! “W-w-what?” it came out like a whisper. I was not for sure if he heard me or not. He stopped what he was doing and looked me into the eyes, “Nuh-n-uhm-nothing.”
“Alan, I heard what you said. It’s okay really.” I was insuring him, I didn’t want him to be nervous or some other ridiculed emotion. He had a confused and a concerned face when he was looking at me, like, he couldn’t process what I said to him.
“Noe, I didn’t mean to sound creepy or anything, I just wanted to tell you that.” He sighed.
“Alan, it’s okay. Just give me a hug you dumb ginger.”
He pretended to be hurt and said, “Dumb ginger? I’ll give you more than a hug.”
He picked me up and threw me over his shoulders. I really hated when Alan did this, it’s so aggravating. “ALAN!! LET ME DOWN!”
“No way Noe!” He started walking down the hallway towards the sliding door which had the pool right outside; I hope he wasn’t doing what I think he’s about to do.
Alan opened the sliding glass door and stepped down out of the house while gently closing the sliding door. He then asked me, “Noe, you want to swim with me?”
“Not like this Alan, at least let me eat and change.”
He put me back down looked at me then poked my belly and said, “The beast needs to be fed.”
“Yes, it does Alan. Now make me some bacon.”
He looked at me and walked back inside whilst I followed slightly behind. Someone picked me up, this time it wasn’t Alan. This person was tall. Just as I thought who it was, my brother. “Austin, seriously? I understand that I’m not as tall as you, although I enjoy being short.”
“Wow, love you too, Noelle. How about giving your big brother a hug?” He said offering me into his arms.
“Big? You are only one year older than I am, and okay.”
I accepted his short embrace from so long ago that I remember often. He pulled away and offered to go to the infamous diner up the street with him, Tino, and Phil. I declined his offer, I’d rather not go somewhere looking awful and scare people, plus I’d get to stay here with Alan. Just the two of us at the house. Yeah, I’d rather stay here and eat what Alan is making me then some random stranger cooking with who-knows-what-ingredients just for money.
Now it’s just Alan and myself, this shall be quite fun.
