Cass had just barely turned 19 yet she had been working as a park ranger for about a year now. She was often at the park for many reasons as well so she knew it well. All of the rangers knew her and were always friendly, so they weren't surprised when she had yet another trip planned during the week of her birthday. On this particular occasion she had plans to go camping with a long time friend of hers. Scotty, her friend, suggested they come out early in the morning so they could get some hunting in.
“Thanks for coming out, I didn't think you would be up for camping in the snow.” Cass said with a little laugh, knowing his weakness to the cold. “Do you think you could help me with the tent?” she added noticing him not doing anything.
“No problem, did you bring protection?” Scotty asked coquettishly with a slight smirk playing on his face, which in return caused Cass to blush a bit. “From the wendigos that is.” he added.
“Y-yes, I brought guns for both of us just incase.” she stammered slightly flustered for assuming, “But you said they were for hunting!”
“Hey whatever comes across my cross hairs, buck or wendigo.” he said seemingly innocently. Cass decided not to pay attention and focus more on getting the tent up. “But I think there's going to be something else far more fun to hunt.” Scotty had added with the lick of his lips, unknowingly to Cass as he watched her bending over.
“Like what?” she asked obliviously, paying him little attention.
“Who knows maybe we'll get some northern squirrels, I heard they're pretty good.” he played it off as nothing. “Did I mention you look beautiful in those furs…” he said, continuing to watch her every movement. Cass immediately tensed up as a blush rose to her face.
“W-what?” she stammered with an embarrassed attempt at a growl, she thought she had outgrown that but it looks like Scotty could revert her right back to her old overly shy self.
“It's still too easy even after all these years, huh Cass?” Scotty laughed out, he had know it's been a while since she's done that too. Cass had finished with the tent and was ready to scold Scotty.
“Shut up!” was all she managed to get out, further embarrassing herself.
“Fine, fine, I'll stop.” he said as he quit laughing, a grin still resided on his face. “Come on, let's get to the tree stand before daybreak, don't want the critters to see us getting into position.” then with a mumble after said, “or the positions I'll be putting you in.”
“What was that?” Cass asked, not catching what he said.
“I said if the critters see you in position they will all come out of the woodwork because of how beautiful you are and I do not have enough bullets for that nor am carrying it back to camp.” Scotty said jokingly, but also hoping it may embarrass her.
“Knock it off, we both know I'm ugly.” she joked in return.
“Did you just insult yourself? Don't make me come over that and tickle you.” he warned teasingly. Cass went silent knowing only another insult would be said. “That's what I thought, now get that sexy butt in gear.” Scotty added with a playful laugh.
“Fiiiiiine.” Cass whined still slightly embarrassed, although she wasn't hating it.
They had spent hours at the stand and the sun was high in the sky, Cass knew the winter meant less daylight so the sun would be setting in 3 or 4 hours. As they were walking into camp Cass couldn't help but complain, after all they had just spent about 5 hours in a stand with only each other and a blanket for warmth.
“I can't believe we didn't get anything!” Cass’s disappointment was evident.
“That's because you didn't pee before you left camp and you had to do it at the base of our tree stand. Although the hot steam that rose from that during winter felt nice on me. And the sound it made was cute. Cute little tinkle.” Scotty teased with a smirk, trying to embarrass her once again.
