Toni waited for what seemed like hours, almost dozing off. A nurse came out, "Uh, Sweet Pea," she said and Toni stood up right away. "Yeah,"she said walking towards the nurse. "How is he?" Toni asked with concern written on her face. "Well the wound in his knee was severely deep. But we were able to put stitches in it. But we also found out that he has 2 broken ribs, and a dislocated shoulder,". Toni froze in her tracks. Sweet Pea never said anything about that. "Can I see him please?" Toni asked and the nurse nodded and led her to his room. When she walked in the room she was about to break down in tears. There Sweet Pea was, he was asleep and looked really pale. Except the cut and bruise on his face. She went over and sat down in the chair next to his bed. Toni just watched as his chest rose then fell.
Sweet Pea opened his eyes to a very worried Toni. "Topaz," he said softly, getting her attention. Toni turned and gave Sweet Pea a faint smile. "Hey, why didn't you say anything else? I could've have called an ambulance instead of making you walk. This is all my fault," Toni said and Sweet Pea slowly sat up. "Don't say this is your fault cause it's not. I'm fine,-" "No, you're not fine Sweets. Your probably going to need crutches, and maybe stay here for a few days," Toni said as Sweet Pea just laughed. "Yeah right, I'm not staying in this hell hole, just a little banged up that's all," he said trying to getting out of the bed but Toni put a hand on his shoulder, "Don't," was all Toni said and Sweet Pea just sighed.
A doctor came in a few minutes later. "Alright Sweet Pea looks like everything will heal nicely but it is recommended that you stay the night,". Sweet Pea just huffed. "No way," Sweet Pea said and Toni just rolled her eyes. "Alright, well I guess we'll just release you and give you crutches," the doctor said as he walked out of the room. Sweet Pea just laughed, "Yeah I'm not using crutches. Topaz please get me my clothes over there." Sweet Pea said slowly getting out of his bed. He hissed in pain but shook it off. "But your jeans, they're all bloody," Toni said unfolding his clothes. "I'm not walking out there with this stupid gown and boxers, besides that's one of my only pairs. Toni just handed them over. "Could you just turn around for a minute?" Sweet Pea asked and Toni turned around as Sweet Pea changed. Once he said she could turned around she went over to him and helped him sit back on the bed to put his shoes on. He was about to grab his shoes but Toni stopped him. She grabbed one of his shoes and started putting on for him."You don't need to do this," he said looking at Toni. "You are injured, let me help," she said and he just huffed and looked at her. "So, how are you and Cheryl?" Sweet Pea said trying to change the conversation as Toni grabbed his other shoe. "Good, real good," she replied as she put his other shoe on. "Alright how are we going to this? Since you're so stubborn about using a wheel chair, crutches or maybe even a walker!" Toni said sitting in a chair in front of him. "I'm not handicapped by the way, and could you maybe just help me like walk by me or something," he said and Toni just rolled her eyes again. "Fine," she replied and went over to Sweet Pea she then helped him stand up. He hissed in pain but Toni went and put his arm around her shoulders. Slowly they made their way out of the room. Sweet Pea was having a hard time trying to walk. "You can't walk Sweet Pea," Toni said, but Sweet Pea kept pushing. Then a pain shot through Sweet Pea's knee and he winced. His eyes were squeezed shut until the pain subsided. "I'm alright, just go," he said and they just kept walking. They finally made it back to the truck and Toni helped Sweet Pea get in. Once Toni got in the car she started it and just looked at Sweet Pea. He just stared off into space, and Toni just pulled out of the lot. "Do I drop you off at your trailer?" Toni said and Sweet Pea just nodded. As they drove towards Sunny Side Trailer Park Sweet Pea just put his head against the window. "What's wrong Sweets," Toni asked noticing his change in mood. "Nothing, I'm just an idiot thinking I could take all those Ghoulies," he said sighing afterwards. "You're not an idiot Sweets, besides it's not like you started the fight, they jumped you," she said and put her hand on his shoulder. The rest of the ride Toni and Sweet Pea didn't talk. Soon enough they pulled into the trailer park and Sweet Pea had fallen asleep. Toni just smiled and thought to herself, now I've got a big brother to take care of.
