Chapter 5

Zaida

The creepy-funny look Tess was giving me had me shiver in my socks. I don’t know what her deal is, but it’s not my fault she’s getting in trouble with Dad. It was her stupid actions, not mines, and she’ll end up paying for that.

I then watched as her face went from angry to blank and uncaring in a split second.

“Yes, sir,” Tessa finally said. “I understand and I will try to do better.”

“You won’t try,” Dad grunted. “You will, understood?”

“Yes, father.”

Uh-oh.

“And it had better come up.”

She was angry. She always called him Daddy otherwise. She quickly casted her eyes down and muttered a quick ‘Yessir’ under her breath and asked to be excused.

After Dad released her, I finally got up the courage to look up at him.

“What was that all about?” I asked.

“Your Mother told me everything, Pumpkin,” Dad said, ruffling my hair. “You don’t have to worry much about Tessabelle anymore.”

“Alright,” I mutter, my gut twirling as I thought of the countless things Tessa could, and probably would, end up doing to me because of this.

“Hey, why so down, Zaida?” Dad asked me seriously. I looked down at my feet and recited the first thing that popped up.

“I’m still kind of sad about Taylor.” Well, that was mostly true. It’s just not the thing that’s got my gut in such a wrench right now.

“Hey, it’s going to be alright, Pumpkin.” Dad pulled me into a bear hug. His clean cut chin was smooth beside my ear, and he smelled of old spice.

“Thanks, Dad.” I pulled out of my father’s hug, and kissed him on his forehead. “I’m going to go get some work done now.”

“Alright, pumpkin”

I grab my bag and walk, slowly, towards my bedroom. In doing that, I also had to pass Tessa’s room.

I took a deep breath before my suicide attempt to walk past her door. I held my breath, and frantically went past, hoping she wouldn’t notice me. I almost got by, I was so close. But, only seconds before I could call my victory, my name was booming out of Tessa’s mouth.

I jumped about twelve feet in the air before I slowly shimmed back to her door. I kept facing forward, attempting to keep what little dignity I had left.

“What?” I asked through ground teeth. I tried to act calm and cool, but I my knees were knocking together faster by the second.

“I just want you to know, Sister,” she began in an amused voice. “Things like this are never forgotten. And Karma comes to stab you in the butt when you least expect it.” I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.

I wanted to tell her what she could do with herself.

I wanted to tell her how many times she could dunk her nasty, stringy hair in the toilet bowl.

I wanted to tell her so many things, but went against it, and just decided to nod.

I just couldn’t seem to bring up the courage, but little did she know, she wasn’t the only one with tricks up her sleeve. I knew a few little trades of my own. And the more I plotted my sweet revenge, the more I knew that she would never expect it and wouldn’t be able to do a thing about it.

A/B~Ooo, so, what will the revenge be?? do you think she could ever pull her little plan off????
