-Chapter 26-
-Oliver-
I finish the last button on my gray overcoat and Amy rakes her fingers through her hair one last time. She's bundled up in a pink coat and some skinny jeans; at least she's warm. I don't want her to get even more sick.
Matt is busy messing with his hair in the mirror. He's trying so hard to make it look really nice and gelled and he's even wearing his lucky, green polo. Amy starts laughing and I raise an eyebrow.
"Your brother is just so adorable." She helps Matt pat down some loose curls and he smiles appreciately. I shake my head at the weird exchange and I grab onto Amy from behind. I pick her up and spin her around a little as she starts yelling complaints and I kiss her cheek quickly.
"Sorry, honey. You just look so great today." Amy glares at me and then puts her fingers on my chin and kisses me slowly. Matt continues to fix himself up.
"Dude, what's the occasion for? It's just Amy's sister." Amy slaps me across the chest and I catch her hand quickly and interwine our fingers.
Matt finishes and stares at me with a hopeless look. I think he's both exhausted from all our nagging and just tired of seeing us so affection towards one another, but we can't exactly help that, but we could tone it down a little.
I remove my hand from Amy's and pat my brother on the back while he's busy tying up his boots. His black hair is dangling down in his face and his stubble is growing in more.
"You'll be fine. Besides, you always have the benefit that she'll be more mad at me than anything."
"Well, maybe you should paint her a painting as a peace offering." Amy insists and I shake my head at her.
"Your sister won't accept that. You're pregnant Amanda." I roll my eyes at her and see her put her hands on her hips like a little girl but I return my attention to my brother.
"Dude, why are you panicking?" I start to whisper in his ear," you've been with plently of women."
"Oliver, dear, I heard you. You really need to work on your whispering skills!" Amy states and starts putting on her own pair of boots.
Matt shrugs and all I can think is that he's not the one needs to be worrying right now.
----
"I called them, they were a little weary at first to why I was calling, but they agreed to come." Amy stuffs her phone back into her pants' pocket. I pull up the hood on her coat to cover her cheeks and curls.
"Thank you."
I look behind me to see Matt straggling along. He seems to be somewhat out of his element. I seriously don't know what his problem is why he has this nervous tick popping up out of the blue, but Amy finds it straight up adorable.
I tighten my grip on her hand as we walk past a few gentlemen on the sidewalk and I wake up to the smell of nearby coffee pouring out of a cafe. I'm about to ask if Amy wants any but I think she's just determined to meet up with her sister and Ian. I'm glad her stress isn't really getting to her right now, but it's probably slowly eating her up inside. That's not something I'm hoping for either.
As soon as we arrive to the park I think she's going to be scared, and I hate seeing that more than anything. I've grown so used to it and I just don't want her to go through it anymore. I've tried talking about medicine with her and she says she's taken some but nothing seems to work. She says I'm her best type of medicine for the anxiety, and even though I think that's endearing, I think it's actually true as well. I'm not trying to sound cocky or anything, but she seems to chill out a lot more when I'm there coaxing her through everything.
