Oakkit took the lead as his friends rushed out of the Nursery, squeals of excitement sounding all around.
"Whee!"
Oakkit turned around to see Tabbykit running alongside him.
...She caught up to me quicker than I thought!...
"Are you having fun?" He asked the newborn kit.
Tabbykit rapidly nodded as she ran.
"Well, I'm glad you ar-"
Oakkit's mew was cut off by and stronger, older voice.
"Let all cats join me around the Moonshine Hill to hear my words!"
Oakkit spun around to see Moonstar, the Clan leader sitting on top of the Moonshine Hill, tail wrapped neatly around her paws and chest puffed out in pride.
"Who's that?!" Tabbykit's voice was full of awe.
"That's Moonstar, our Clan leader. She's in charge of everything so she's really responsible-"
"Be quiet! Moonstar's about to speak."
Hissed a senior warrior named Leaffall, the white patches on his light brown pelt looking like fallen leaves.
"That's Leaffall," Oakkit whispered to Tabbykit, "he's a big meanie." He smirked.
"I heard that," Leaffall hissed again, his pale green gaze blazing. "Now LISTEN!"
Oakkit, Tabbykit and the rest focused on Moonstar.
"Today, a new warrior rises among us. Our dear Blackpaw has reached an appropriate twelve moons of age, and is ready to earn his true name. Blackpaw? Come forward."
A white tom with a long black tail raced from the crowd, excitement glowing in his yellow eyes.
"Look! Look! There's my father! Blackpaw, my father!" Rainbowkit was pouncing excitedly. A dark red brown she cat shushed her.
It was true. Oakkit felt very bad for Rainbowkit. Blackpaw became mates with Wetstream while he was still an apprentice, which is against the rules for most Clans. It rarely happened, but he knew another couple who had done so before.
"With the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name, Blacktail. StarClan honors you."
Moonstar said.
Blacktail puffed out his chest in pride.
"Blacktail, Blacktail!" The Clan chanted.
Oakkit joined in.
Eventually the cheering died out and the whole Clan reverted back to their normal activities.
"C'mon," said Angelkit, "Let's go show Tabbykit the apprentices!"
She led them to a small, stone den, covered with ferns.
"We can't go inside," Goldenkit said to Tabbykit, "But we can say hi."
"Who's out here?" Said a strong, snotty voice.
A golden she cat much like Goldenkit with olive green eyes padded out from the Apprentice's Den.
Goldenkit quickly ran behind Tabbykit, cowering in fear. "Hide me, she HATES me!!!"
Oakkit recongnized his older-and bossier- sister, Goldenpaw.
"Oh. It's just the stupid kits. What are you doing here, checking out our den? You're not even close to being six moons old."
"We're just giving Tabbykit a tour around MoonClan, you furball!"
Redkit snarled.
"Well, don't get that THING near me, ok?!"
Tabbykit started to whimper a bit, and
Oakkit felt burning anger blaze inside of him.
A ginger and white she cat jumped out of the den and shoved his sister to the side. "Stop being so rude, Goldenpaw! I bet you were wandering 'round the camp saying hi to everyone when YOU were a kit!"
Goldenpaw snorted and walked away, taking a juicy piece of prey out from a deep hole.
Oakkit recongnized the mismatched green-and-blue gaze and large ears of Longpaw, the Clan's only apprentice who was actually nice at the moment.
Longpaw caught the light blue gaze of Tabbykit.
"Aww, it's Tabbykit! She opened her eyes! Hi, little kit, I'm Longpaw!"
Longpaw's warm smile seemed to brighten Tabbykit's blue eyes.
...Well, they're going to be the best of friends. I can tell...
"Hey! Where's Breezepaw?" Asked Rainbowkit.
Breezepaw was Blacktail's sister, so she and Rainbowkit would be kin.
"Umm..she's not doing well right now, you wouldn't want to." Answered Longpaw.
"But we have to show Tabbykit everybody!"
Longpaw sighed. "If you want." She padded away.
They bounced happily inside.
"Hi, Breezepaw!" Squealed Rainbowkit.
A long haired gray and white she cat lay in the center nest, paws covering her face. "Go away."
"Why?"
"I hate you."
"You do?"
"Yes. You should've never been born."
"Why not?"
Breezepaw slammed down her paws to reveal blue eyes and sharp white teeth.
"BlackPAW should've not have been made a warrior! He's not even twelve moons old! He was only made one because he's a father! I wish you were never born! I'd be a warrior too if it weren't for you!"
Rainbowkit burst into tears.
"Let's get out of here!" Oakkit growled.
They ran back into the center of camp, Angelkit ran her tail down Rainbowkit's back trying to calm her down.
"A-are all cats so rude?" Tabbykit asked.
Oakkit's eyes widened.
"No way! There's many cats left to meet. You'll love them, you'll see."
