Chapter Two ~
Written in RP's perspective.
To be honest, I wasn't very happy with being one of the two hundred adolescents chosen to reside in the lovely Yahoo! Answers Academy. It was a grand place and I knew that there would be many people to meet. With my agoraphobia, encountering new people wasn't one of my favorite things to do. And I was only getting used to my new school and beginning to fit in when I got the letter addressed to me from Sunnydale, California practically pushing me to join them.
Oh, well. It was just like me to have a bitter attitude when forced to try something new. Whenever I saw a glass of water, it was half-empty to me. No, actually, it was even worse. The glass was twice as large as it actually needs to be in my view. Did I really want people getting to know me as the whiny person I truly am? The answer was a definite 'no'. Therefore, I bit my cheeks and sucked them in, a comforting habit I always seemed to do.
But I do have to admit, our dorm was quite lovely. I shared a space with four other adolescents, and the theme of the area was My Chemical Romance, which was one of my favorite bands back when I was twelve or thirteen years old. The place was divided into three rooms, one for a girl named Cheyanne sharing with Melody, another for somebody called Ana (short for Analisa) and me, and the last for a boy named Grant.
When I entered the room, I noticed that it was already set up, which was great because all I needed to do was to unpack. Plastered all over the walls were posters of the members and logo of the band by which our dorm's décor was based upon. There were two beds neatly made, and the bedsheets were a basic black. It wasn't until I turned to the right when I realized there was another person in the room, which shows you how oblivious I can be at times.
The girl looked about my age, give or take a year, but most likely take. She was clothed in Blink-182 merchandise. Her eyes were almond-shaped and a light brown and her hair was just a shade darker and styled in layers. She beamed at me, but not in a creepy or goofy sort of way.
"You must be Ana." I said, sort of without emotion. I barely ever showed warmth in my voice, and I wouldn't express fervor when meeting someone new.
She seemed genuinely nice, though. "That's me. You must be Angelykah."
I nodded happily. Every time I encountered a new person, they always pronounced my name wrong, when it was simply to be pronounced like the Angelica flower. I could tell that this girl had something smart about her, and I could see that just by looking at her eyes. They weren't empty and hollow, like the pupils of most of the students attending my old school.
It was then I grasped the concept that this school was different. It wouldn't be like any education institution I went to previously. This was my chance to be more than the socially awkward nerd whom I always was. I could make friends here, who knows? Maybe I could even become popular.
