Oh, the memories came flooding back.  Back to a time were things were comprehendible. Things were once real. Oh the flowers and meadows which would easily die in this salty air he remembered. He concluded that there must have been pure air too at a time, and people that were as him, and towns of people living lives. He wanted to go see them when he got back! He put his hand to his face to give himself some selfcomfort. His hands dropped limp and he gazed upon his late love and wept for she was no more. That was not his sweet girl to whom he cared for more than himself. That was a beast of what remained of her in his own imagination.

“Be gone!” he cried out

A burst of thunder struck the being from the sky, but it was unaffected. it mereley grinned with its rotting teeth and gums showing with aweful fowl liquid drooling out. He grunted from the mental strain, and it moaned from a dark place deep within in response. Oh the moan of a thousand souls all trapped in one evil creature of emotional toil rendered the man’s mind numb. The man shook his head and shed tears. Oh how it felt to weep and release such compressed feelings! He still loved the shadow with great passion, so much to the point that he could not destroy it.

“Oh how I know you are not real, you’re evil, your a devil, your not my Elora! And yet, even now, I know my feelings to be true and can not destroy you!” he forced these words from his trembling lips.

“Man, why do you fool yourself?” the shadow said mocking Elora’s divine soothing voice.

It pierced the man’s ears to simply hear that sound. To know she wasn’t real was heartbreaking and it knew that. It tormented his heart which was locked within him, inside his mind.

“You are a plague to this realm.” He proclaimed in a weakened voice, “Be gone!” he cried once more.

In his mind he depicted fire and as he willed it, it became true.

“Ignis,” he cried and flames appeared.

It seemed to him that his tears were what burned more so than the shadows vapors which resonated as a discolored ploom of ash. The creature screamed as if a cry of a tormented soul. The instant the cry started the fire stopped. It could not be undone. The man imagined her to dissipate in wind! He waved his hands in a way to provoke air and it blew. Hard as stone, fast as rage upon a land of propaganda versus truth. It fell apart like sand, tiny grains flew with the wind and all was calm.

He starred at the spot not believing it to be true! He watched for only a moment when the black footsteps without makers came closer towards him. One foot at a time, no noise made. Then they stopped. Inches away from his own bare feet. Grain by grain the image of a shadow immerged slowly as if dust blowing into one pile. The man grew pale, and ever so cold at the sight of a dead face looking upon him now. Its features distorted, more twisted and evil now than before. He could see every detail. Every maggot hole, every scar, every wrinkle, stitch all visible only inches away from his face. The fowl odor came from the mouth and eyes of the creature and it burned the mans strong lungs.

Oh how it enraged him to be tricked by such a creature which now appered nothing like Elora Elaine! Oh how enraged he was. He was hesitant no more!

He shouted and attempted to tackle the shadow with his large boned body. He lunged forward and fell through the creatures transparent body and over the railing he went. He had barley grasped the rope hanging over and was moments from falling to the black water below. He glanced up at the shadow above and it remained facing the West. It didn’t even turn towards him to see his expression of terror.

He felt a jolt then heard a falter in the rope.  It had snapped and he fell into the black water. Oh how terror had finally come to him! All this time fear had been unnoticed till now. He felt the creatures below tremble and immerge towards the surface to watch his destruction. He flailed in the water to keep afloat and within seconds he felt his feet numb. He glanced down and they had seemed to have melted into the water and the dissolving of flesh crept up his legs. The water was eating away at him! He saw the eyes of many monsters from all angles watching. He removed his hand and looked at for a moment before it dripped off his arm like water. Soon all appendages were gone and he could no longer float. His body gone, he was no more than a head. He gasped for breath but his mouth only filled with water. Within a few more seconds he glanced towards the surface to see that the sun had finally set, then he dissipated into the water and he was nomore.
