When I open my eyes again, I am reminded of the first time I woke up here. I am all alone, but nearby I see the Trespassing Three talking in whispers, well attempting to.
"That girl is awake again." Joan Jacob observes.
Joan James knocks him on the head. "You don't say. Anyways, isn't her name Spanish or something?"
"Both of you are idiots. It's Spencer." Joan Michelle says, rolling her eyes.
"Should we go speak to her?" Joan James asks.
"Maybe." Joan Jacob replies, cautiously.
"Why? So she can try to convince us to help her?" Joan Michelle sounds annoyed.
"Give the girl a break, Michelle. She doesn't know anything about this place. The least we can do is help." Joan Jacob notes.
"The least we can do is our job." Joan Michelle says, walking towards me.
Her brothers follow behind her. They sit down in front of me. I look out over a lava pool. Right. I just appeared here.
"Where am I?" I ask.
Joan James is the first to respond. "The Endless Lava Pool. We come here quite often. I mean we are dragons."
"Hugons." Jacob corrects.
Michelle smiles. "Don't pay any attention to them. Be glad you don't have to be with them twenty four seven."
I laugh. "Right. How did I get here?"
Jacob shrugs. "We don't know. We were just flying by when we saw some brown hair fanned across the rock."
"We decided to investigate." James clarifies.
I nod.
"No, they decided to investigate." Michelle states.
"I feel like you don't like me." I mutter.
"I just don't want to get in trouble." She responds.
So, she heard me. I'm glad I didn't say anything bad.
"Funny, because every time I come around, you never seem to be doing your job."
We all turn at the voice. It is Jordan. Isn't is always? Of course, the necklace is glowing again. I'm starting to think Serena was right.
Michelle turns to look at him. "Jordan. Why are you here?"
"Doesn't matter. So, when you guys are told not to help the humans, do you hear the exact opposite?" Jordan responds, stepping towards them.
Jacob responds. "No. We do what we are told."
"Says the two who want to help the human." Michelle notes.
James speaks up. "Why can't we help the human if we want? I mean, what job do we have to do? It is not like anyone is going to be trespassing over here with the portal closed."
Before anyone else can respond, I say something. "Could you not talk about me, especially if you are just going to refer to me as human?"
Joan Michelle says, "Whatever, but I think human is better than Spanish, which is your name according to my brother."
"Spanish. Nice one, but I guess Joan James over there makes a point. Who is going to trespass? Anyways, what would happen if Igor found out you were helping her?"
Michelle walks over to him. "Maybe I would be scared of you, if I knew you weren't lying. You're too nice to turn us in. Besides we are the closest you have to friends. So, stop pretending otherwise."
