Artemis slowly looked up at the memorial holograph of her beloved Wally West. It had been a while since he had passed away, or so they say, it's what Artemis had been told a lot. The stars were the background to Wally's smirking face, dressed in his Kid Flash costume.
A hand was gently placed on my shoulder, she spun around suddenly from the unexpected contact. Kid Flash stood there, comforting her. Her heart skipped a few beats, but then the painful realisation flooded over Artemis. That's not the Kid Flash that she is in love with. Her heart shattered as reality grew over her that Wally was never returning to her side.
It was Impulse in his Kid Flash costume. 'I feel like a fraud.' He admitted as he looked at Artemis sympathetically because he saw the glimpse of hope when she turned around.
'You are respecting Wally's memory, by becoming the Kid Flash. It's what he would've wanted.' She said reassuringly, smiling sweetly, but the smile wasn't real.
'What about you?' He asked as he noticed that she wasn't wearing her usually green outfit. Instead she had on her Tigress costume and in her hands she clutched her mask that went with it.
'I needed a change. Artemis was Wally's partner... Tigress provides me with some space.' She explained.
'So you're Tigress, as a criminal?' Impulse asked slightly confused.
'Not quite, Tigress as a blonde. I don't think Id be able to cope being alone right now. Wally...' She trailed off as a tear rolled down her cheek. 'I can't be Artemis with out him.' She finished, she placed her Tigress mask on before walking into the shadows and diapering into the night. The holographic Wally West watched her leave. It was not just Wally West that was lost that day. Artemis Crock was lost, never to returning the same as she was before.
