{Author's Note: Hiiiiiii sorry it's been a while, I went to Europe for a bit so I didn't have time to work on this & I've been juggling some other projects too so this fell by the wayside a little. To make up for it (well, not really) here's a drawing I did at like 3AM when I first started writing this.
It doesn't look great but I hope you like it anyhow.}

-Scourge's POV-

We are extraordinarily lucky that Valentine's day falls on a Thursday, because Shadow has French class last period, and I have Art. So, together we leave school a full hour early, and we don't plan on coming back tomorrow; as he climbs onto the motorcycle behind me, I lean back, cupping his cheek with a hand and grinning at him. "Happy Valentine's Day," I purr, and he grins, leaning down to give me a quick peck before plopping down behind me and wrapping his arms around me.

"Happy Valentine's Day." He beams, tail wagging ecstatically. "Let's get the hell outta here."

"Don't gotta tell me twice!" I shove the key in the ignition and turn it, revving the engine; today it's been only a little bit chilly, so it isn't too cold to just start driving, thankfully. I walk it backwards, out of the space, then turn and peel out, getting out of the parking lot as fast as possible. "You wanna go ahead'n'get dinner?"

"Sure," he replies cheerfully. "Where would we go?"

"We should pro'lly get take-out, drive-through somethin'," I shrug, slowing to a stop at a light. "What d'you want?"

"I don't really care," he shrugs, then pauses to think. The light changes, so I gun it, pulling out into the intersection. "Why don't we just, I dunno, go to McDonald's?"

"A'right. I'm gonna head to the one closer to the park, though." I duck into the left-hand lane, glancing around. He murmurs something like yeah that's okay as he rests his head on my back with a happy sigh. We lapse into a silence as I navigate across town; the nearest McDonald's is a block or so from the park. Not too long a distance, but the park itself is quite a ways away from our school. More of a fifteen minute drive than a thirty minute one, though. I drive as responsibly as possible, wary of getting pulled over (because this would be the literal worst time for that), and stopping at every red light. Even some yellow ones, just to play it safe. If Shadow notices, he doesn't mind; he seems to be enjoying the ride, looking around at the city as it rolls by. The sun is still high in the sky, warming the air slightly; though, the wind makes it seem chillier than it really is, so at a stop light I pause to zip up my jacket, rolling my shoulders to settle it. Shadow shifts behind me, resting his chin on my shoulder now, and I smile a bit to myself. Today's a good day. People are driving calmly, sedately, few horns honking (amazingly enough), and it just feels like a lovely day. I just hope McDonald's won't be super busy...

After a bit more driving, we roll up to the McDonald's drive-thru, right behind a tired-looking Jeep, and I sigh, a little relieved, leaning back. "So, whaddaya want?" I ask, turning to look over my shoulder at him.

"Hmm... some nuggets." He muses, shifting position slightly.

"Six or ten? Or we could get twenty and split 'em." I scratch my chest. Nuggets sound pretty good right now.

Shadow hums, thinking. "Yeah, let's get twenty. Sauce or no sauce?"

"I like the barbecue sauce, but honestly, I'm not picky." I respond.

"I'm alright with that."

The Jeep ahead rolls up, and I scoot forward as well, just walking the bike up to the little Place Your Order kiosk. I lean over, ears perked, and it crackles out its hello what can I get for ya message, and then something occurs to me and I straighten up again. "Any drinks?" I whisper to Shadow.
