It was a sunny day. The perfect weather for the perfect wedding, for Luigi that is. Deanna on the other hand was as pessimistic as she can be. She hates weddings, especially the over the top ones. One can say it may be because her parents split up when she was 13. She's not entirely opposed to her parents splitting up, she just absolutely hated it that they put her in the middle. Both of them trying to win her over as if there was a contest of who was the better parent.
"You know I'm only here because you basically begged me to come right?"
Deanna complained to Luigi as she fixed her tie in front of the mirror as Luigi fixed his behind Deanna.
"Come on. You have to love me enough to at least show up to my wedding, right?"
Luigi said in retaliation with his forehead creased.
"I do. But you know I hate weddings. It's all too extravagant in my opinion. You used to be a simple man."
Her parents had the most excessive wedding she has ever seen. The videos were enough proof. It was a massive church wedding, complete with all the flowers and the over-the-top decorations with the violins and the cellos. And don't even get Deanna started on the super extra give aways. All of that for a marriage that had a 13-year span. Love exists for Deanna, love that lasts for a lifetime, not so much.
"I still am a simple man. But a simple man can go through extravagance to make the love of his life's wedding day as special as his bride wants it to be. Within reason, of course." Luigi responded.
"Yes, within reason. But me, I don't think I'll wanting a big-time wedding anytime soon if I ever do get married. That my friend, is an anomaly on its own." Deanna added.
"Oh stop it. You're being cupid's demon version again." Luigi said as he finally got his tie the way he wants it.
Deanna fiddled with her tie a bit more until she was happy. Both of them sat on opposing sofas in Luigi's prep room.
"There is nothing wrong with being single for the rest of my life, Luigi. Don't forget that. Plus, that doesn't mean that I won't be involved with anyone. I just don't see myself getting married is all." Deanna continued.
"There is nothing wrong with being single for the rest of your life. It's just I don't see it you know. I've seen you fall in love, you're not ending up single." Luigi stated.
"Stop it. Lisa was a mistake. And hey, I finally realised what I wanted in my life. Aren't you happy for me?" Deanna reasoned.
"I am very happy that you know what you want in life. If you're absolutely certain about that. It's not the first time you've committed to something you're so sure of." Luigi said with his eyebrow raised.
"You're starting to sound like my parents, Gi." Deanna stated
"I am merely concerned you're closing so many doors already. At 25, nonetheless." Luigi said in response.
"You're the one getting married, Gi. Not me." Deanna said with a chuckle.
"Happily getting married, Wong." Luigi said with his eyes shining from the thought of finally being able to marry the love of his life.
"Which should be the point of discussion today. Why are we talking about me when my best friend is about to get married?" Deanna said as she stood up to put her hands on Luigi's shoulder as a friendly gesture then patting his cheek like a child.
"That sounded so sarcastic it almost seemed real." Luigi said while chuckling as he stood up again in front of the mirror.
"Seriously man, you look great. Wendy's lucky to have you." Deanna said in support as she sat on the sofa where Luigi was.
