Sophie's POV

"Sophie, wake up!" My mum whispers into my ear while I'm still dreaming.

"Ugh! It's so early!" I say with a tired voice.

"It's not early, it's half past eleven." My mum says smiling while rolling her eyes.

"I don't want to get up." I say rolling onto the other side of the bed.

"Well you're going to have to. Did you forget what day it is today?" My mum says while pulling me up.

"It's Saturday, the day I get to sleep in." I say laying back down.

"No, today's the day our new neighbours are moving in. So when they arrive we're going to go over and welcome them in the neighbourhood and make them feel as comfortable as possible and you get to make new friends." My mum says excitedly.

"Why are you so excited for new neighbours?" I say finally having enough strength to get up from bed.

"Well, it will be nice to have someone new to have tea with and talk about the weather and the news and just have some girl time." My mum says while opening the curtains.

"Girl time?" I say while giggling.

"You know, talk about the latest gossip, shopping, clothes, shoes, that kind of stuff." My mum replies.

"I know what girl time is, but you and girl time? The latest gossip? I say walking over to the window and looking outside. It was a gloomy day, rain and clouds.

"What you don't think I listen to what celebraties are doing? And why can't I have girl time? I'm not even that old!" My mum says crossing her arms.

"Sure mum, I love you." I say sarcastically, except I wasn't sarcastic about the 'I love you'.

My mum just stares at me and gives me 'the look' and then smiles.

"Go to the bathroom and come down stairs quickly, we're going to bake biscuits for the new neighbours." My mum says walking towards the door.

It's like that's all my mum talks about, the new neighbours!

"Okay, seriously mum? Biscuits? Why are you going crazy with the neighbours? I don't even want new neighbours, I liked better when it was quiet." I say coldly.

"Well I'm just trying to be friendly. And just because you're not ready for changes doesn't mean I'm not. Now hurry and get dressed." My mum says in a heartbeat and leaves my room.

Ugh, why did Elli have to leave? It's already bad enough not being able to see her everyday and see the big smile on her face and her laugh that leaves her face glowing. And now I'm going to have new neighbours. Mum said that there was a daughter that was a few years older and a son that is my age. I don't even like boys and now I have to be friends with one. What if he's annoying? Or what of he smells weird?

I go into the bathroom and do everything I need to do and then I get dressed. I'm going to wear my favourite sun dress that comes up to my knees and has a daisy pattern all over. Even if it's raining, I think the dress still brights up the day and plus it's really cute.
