Elli's POV

It's been 2 weeks since I've been in America. And I guess you could say it's alright, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Except for the guys that tease me because I have an accent, but the teacher always gets mad at them and my new friend, Maddie, tells me they're jerks and that they do that to everyone about everything.

It was a Saturday, the day I've been waiting for all week. The days just go by so slowly! I was still not done unpacking my things and putting things away, I just can't get my room to the way I want it.

I've been waking up pretty early since I've moved here. Back in England, if Sophie and I woke up early we would look through our bedroom window and call each other but we would pick up the phone pretty quickly so our parents wouldn't wake up and tell each other to go outside and when we got outside, we would sit in our backyard and listen to the birds chirp and watch the sun rise, I miss doing that. ( lol too cliche )

I woke up early today as usual, but my mum woke me up instead.

"Elli, you have to get up now." My mum said while walking into my room.

"Why so early?" I say looking at the clock, it was 7:30, where did my mum have to be so early, it was Saturday.

"Your father and I have an interview at work which is at 9 and we have to take the bus to work and we don't want to be late so get up and you're going to stay at this nice lady's house that lives across from us.

"Ugh, babysitting?" I say not very thrilled.

"You're going to like her, she makes cookies!" My mum says thinking that that will change my mind.

"What if I get bored?" I say.

"Bring a book or some of your dolls, but I'm sure she babysits some other kids, so you can play with them and make new friends." My mum says exiting my room. "Now get out of bed!" She says.

I sprawl out of bed and look outside the window, it was a sunny day but there were some clouds, it might rain later on. I walk into the bathroom and do everything I need to do and then I get dressed. I think I'm going to wear my favourite white skirt with flower patterning. I walk downstairs to see my dad reading the newspaper and my mum was making a cup of coffee.

"Good morning, sunshine!" My dad said as I walked into the kitchen.

My mum hands me a box of cereal and the milk was already set on the table. I eat quickly because my parents had to go soon and I didn't want to make them late.

"It's quarter to 8, Marcus." My mum says to my dad as he gets up.

"I'll get the files." He says as he walks towards the stairs.

"Make sure you bring all of them." My mum finishes.

My mum and dad do some last minute touch ups to their files and sort out all of them, this must be a big interview. We leave the house and my mum walks me over to the lady's house. I didn't bring anything with me because I was in a rush to leave the house.

"Her name is Mrs Janel, be polite alright and if she gives you food, compliment her cooking." My mum says. She knocks on the door and an old lady opens the door.

"Hi Daniella! This must be Ellizabith." Mrs Janel says pointing towards me. What if she's mean?

"Uhh, mummy, I don't want to stay here." I say whispering to my mum. "Elli, there's no where else for you to stay and you can't stay home alone." She replies.

"But I don't want to stay here!" I say arguing with my mum. "Elli," My mum gives me 'the look'.

My mum steps aside from Mrs Janel's door way and she looks straight in my eyes.

"Elli, why are you acting like this, you have I stay here, you have no where else to go unless you want to come with your father and myself to work but that's going to be even boring than making cookies." My mum says whispering.

"Can I come to your work?" I ask innocently. My mum looked annoyed, that was probably not the answer she was going for.

"Fine, I'll tell her you don't want to stay." My mum says turning to look at Mrs Janel who was still waiting at the door and she looked confused.

I walked towards the bench that was near the house because the way Mrs Janel looks at me gives me the creeps.

I was sitting in the middle of the bench when a boy about my age comes and sits beside me. I felt a little uncomfortable so I slid to the end of the bench. "What's wrong?" He asks. He had a faint accent almost like mine but a little thicker.

"Well my mum and dad have to go to this interview at their work and I just moved here from England two weeks ago and I don't have any friends and I don't have anywhere to stay and my mum is making me stay at this old lady's house who gives me the creeps but I'm not staying there and yeah." I felt a weird telling a stranger about my problems but it seemed like he understood everything I was going through.

"That's pretty rough. I moved here about a year ago from Ireland. My mum and dad got a divorce when I was 5 and my mum moved here for work but I always visit my dad and my friends back in Ireland during breaks and all. When I got here I had no friends but I have some really nice ones now. Don't worry just give it some time and you'll fit in and everyone one will want to be your friend and Mrs Janel gives everyone the creeps." He says, kind of blushing, but I don't know why.

"I'm sorry, for like the divorce and all and not having friends part." I said awkwardly.

"It's okay." He giggled under his breath.

"I'm Niall, by the way." He says sticking out his hand.

"I'm Ellizabith, but you can call be Elli." I say shaking his hand. He gets off the bench and stands in front of me.

"You're not staying at Mrs Janel's house?" Niall says pouting.

"No, I don't want to, so I'm going to work with my parents." I reply. "How do you know her by the way?" I ask curiously.

"She babysits almost all the kids in the neighbourhood and I guess everyone is scared of her but she likes me, I think, she says I have the luck of the Irish." He says all proud. "And it's too bad that your not staying at her place today, cause I was going right now." He finishes.

"Isn't your mum at home?" I ask.

"My mum has some things to do and my older brother Greg had soccer practice, so I come here." He answers.

I kind of wanted to hang out with Niall and get to know him, maybe he could be my new friend. My mum walks towards me and Niall.

"Elli, let's go, I don't want to be late, your father is waiting." My mum says.

"Actually, I'm going to go to stay at Mrs Janel's house with Niall." I say grabbing his hand and walking towards the house.

My mum turns and walks towards to me. "I thought you didn't want to stay here?" My mum says.

"Well, I changed my mind." I say back.

"Mood swings much." I heard my mum say under breath.

I enter Mrs Janel's house and maybe I will have a good time with my new friend Niall, the leprechaun.
