The Prince just smirked widely at Virgil from his throne at the far end of the court room. Virgil now noticed that as he looked at the Prince's face he could see that there was a dark shadow under his eyes, which made him appear much more intimidating than the Roman he knew from his own world.

The Prince flicked his hand in the air, signalling for Virgil to be brought forward to the stand. Within moments Virgil was pushed forwards by the guard holding him and then he was shackled to the stand. The Prince nodded and grinned. "Perfect. Exactly where I want you. This is going to be fun, is it not?" He said in a tone that said he didn't really need an answer.

Virgil just stood there, feeling himself want to shrink away from the attention that was on him. He wished he could just curl up and hide. His heart was racing. It felt like it would burst out of his chest if it went any faster. He looked around the room, Tarrant and Chessur watching him closely, clearly evaluating his every move.

The Prince then cleared his throat to draw attention to himself. He had never liked being out of the spotlight for very long, especially being an only child. He was used to everyone paying attention to him and nobody else. This was the perfect place for all attention to be on him. "Now Virgil... You stole from my advisor Nivens, correct?" He asked, his voice smooth, but it held a sharp edge like a knife.

Virgil shook his head. "I didn't steal... I took what was available to me. Nothing said that it belonged to him." He said calmly.

The Prince rose a brow and looked to his left where Nivens stood. "I didn't mishear, did I? You said that he stole from you, did you not?"

Nivens nodded furiously. "I did and he certainly did steal from me."

"He's lying!" Virgil shouted suddenly, his fists clenched.

The Prince looked at him sharply. "Hold your tongue! Any more outbursts like that and I shall execute you on the spot with no trial!" He said in a dangerously low tone. "Now, I ask again, did you take something that didn't belong to you?"

Virgil swallowed down his anger. "Technically yes, I did, but the sign by them said 'take one'. What else was I supposed to do? Nivens sent me into his house... I saw the cookies and I took one. It was innocent."

"Yes, and you broke everything in my home in the process!" Nivens retorted.

The Prince looked at Nivens in mock shock. "Oh my goodness, you poor fellow." His eyes fell back on Virgil. "Is this true, boy?"

Virgil looked down and sighed. He couldn't deny it, he had trashed the rabbit's home in the process. "Yes... I... I didn't mean to... It was an accident." He said. "I couldn't exactly help it your highness."

Nivens shook his head. "You needn't have eaten the cookie, then you could have avoided it."

"W-Well, I didn't know that it was going to make me that big... It was an innocent mistake that I highly regret. If I could go back and change things I would, but I can't and I'm sorry." Virgil said.

The Prince tutted. "Oh dear, oh dear, things are not looking good for you. Stealing, vandalism and yelling at royalty. You had better think of some saving grace very quickly." He said with a smirk in his voice. He clearly knew that Virgil wouldn't be able to get out of this.

Virgil looked up at both Nivens and the Prince with glassy eyes, but stayed silent. Inside he was breaking, but he couldn't think of anything to help himself.
