I freeze, every nerve in my body shivers. I make an irrational decision and whip around sharply and begin to say, "You know what Tama I am done with your shenanigans. Now shut your damn mou..." I stop mid rant when I realize its Matt. Matt is the geeky but athletic. He is smart and hot, I mean who wouldn't like him. I suddenly feel every cell in my very being boil over in embarrassment. "I-I'm so-o sorry Matt, I-I thought.." I start to say.

"Wow, Emma I didn't know you had fire in you. Dang..." Matt states with edge in his voice.

"Well, I usually keep it in this big brain of mine," I say pointing to my head; "but, uh what did you want." He tilts his head slightly to the left and looks me over, studies my features. I have long bright red hair with sea green eyes, tannish skin, and a little taller than average. I fight the blush forming in my cheeks and clear my throat, "So, you were saying?"

"Oh, um," he shallows hard, "I just wanted to say you look really nice with, uh, without your glasses on that's all," he says with a deep rumble in his chest. We stand there for what feels like forever.

"Well, um I gotta get going." I say breaking the silence and pointing my right thumb over my shoulder. He looks up like I disfigured his thoughts, whatever they might have been, and says, "Right see you around Emma."

I start walking when he pivots on one heel and brushes his hand on my shoulder, puts his lips too close to my ear and whispers darkly, into my ear so only I can hear, "We should talk sometime, see you tomorrow Em." I pause, hold in my gasp. "Mkay, bye Matt," my lips say without permission. "Bye," and he pulls away as I start walking the other way. I never knew you could feel so many things at once. I have to tell Lily about this.

--------------------

"Wait, so you're telling me that Matt talked to you?" says Lily dumbfounded.

"Ya and he even said that we should talk sometime with his lips next to my ear," I say as I look up with dreamy eyes.

"I can't believe it. You have been dreaming about this moment for, like, ever," she exclaims.

"I know I just don't know what to do about it. My brain is on fire just thinking about. But enough about me, what's up with you," I say changing the subject.

"Nothing much compared to you. Oh, but did you hear about the bank robbery that happened the other day?" she asks in question as she sinks her teeth into her Twinkie.

"No, I actually didn't. What about it?" I respond back thinking of what could have happened.

"Apparently the bank was heavily guarded, so much that basically no one could break in. But when the police came all the guards were knocked unconscious, except the one who called the police. But even that guard's memory was wiped," Lily says thinking deeply about the subject.

"That's really weird," I say contemplating the situation that has occurred. "Ya, I know right! They said that they can't explain it. It's like someone used superpowers or something like that," Lily says with a mouthful of food.

But that's impossible , I ponder to myself. But weird stuff has been happening lately... "Hey, Emmy. Heelloo." Lily says interfering with my thoughts.

"Sorry I was just lost in thought. What were you saying?" I say getting back into reality.

"Oh nothing. Everything is just kinda been weird lately. I mean this bank robbery with guards memories being wiped, the hostage situation where it was like the whole place was covered in a force field; and the fried homicide where the body looked like it was a burnt chicken wing. All the news reports say it's like the impossible happened," she says as she gets up to throw away her trash.

When she comes back we grab our stuff just as the bell rings for 6th period. Lily puts her hand on my arm and I stop walking. "Emmy, just remember if anything happens you tell me first. Also we have to hang out after school. Firecracker's then a sleepover at my house?" she says staring at me with her dazzling hazel eyes. I stare at her features for a moment. Her short dirty blonde hair, circle face, peachy skin; and I wonder what I have done to deserve such a good friend.

"Yes, of course. That sounds like a blast. See you then," I reply with pure happiest in my voice. I walk away thinking, we live in a tiny town in Canada; what could happen? Who knew I would be so wrong.
