The Mermaid

~Chapter 1: The Shell~

When I look into her eyes for too long I feel lost in a sence thinking that's where I belong.

I come back to the real world and ask the first question that pops into my mind.

"What are you?" I say looking into those hypnotizing eyes. She gazes back into my eyes and for a moment all is lost.

I forget the world around us and only see her, feel her, and smell her. She smells like the ocean. Sweet, salty who knows. But I crave her smell. She says nothing. Not a word.

But instead she smiles and I see razor sharp teeth. She grins and swiftly bites into my neck with one gesture. And then blackness..

Ha just kidding. Bet I got you for a sec huh? Anyways back to the story.. :)

Not a word. But instead she smiles and I see perfectly straight teeth. Flawless. She grins at me and shows me the most beautiful shell I've ever seen.

It's a giant crab shell that's white and purple. I didn't know such a thing existed. She puts it up to her lips and blows.

It makes a beautiful sound such as a flute does just a little deeper. Pleasing almost. She gestures for me to blow. And points to herself.

So I blow the shell, she smiles and turns away. She gives me a quick glance back.

"Please don't leave" I beg.
But she's already gone.

《3 hours later》

I'm still thinking about her. I made it back to the beach lodge and I called the police to report the sunken boat.

I had to find my brother and my father. They were on that boat with me. Why did only I survive? Despite this still in the back of my mind is the girl. Why can't I keep my mind off her...?

I have so many questions. Is my family ok? Is she a mermaid? Is she the only one? Will I ever see her again? Is she thinking of me too..? I feel a craving for her sent. It's like a drug.

It controls you. I grab the shell and go back to the beach. In minutes I'm down my the shore already. The lodge is an ocean view suite.

So it's not far. It's sunset now and the sun light is already fading. I blow the shell just because for a moment.

Taking away all of my air, the shell makes that satisfying noise that it did earlier.

I sit for a few moments in silenced. Only listening to the tide going in and out. Suddenly I see something move in the water.

No, I think to myself it's just your eyes messing with you. I convince myself.

Then I see it again but closer. Maybe it's a dolphin? I see it again. Even closer this time though.

But it is then that I see that beautiful black or grey tail. The girl. She swims to the shallows and pushes herself onto the water and smiles.
