Even though Zara hated being at parties, she loved to show off the every now and then. That's one trait that her parents weren't sure how to deal with. Growing up, Zara was more outspoken about things than Clark was. Were as Clark was the quieter of the two.
But when kids would try to push one of the twins around, the other would have their siblings's back. The thing that stood out most between the two, was Zara would talk in her sleep. Martha would catch her sitting up in bed, talking to the wall in a language she'd never heard before.
It mellowed out as she got older, but showing off would always be her main trait. As she mingled with the people, her hearing picked up the sound of footsteps heading in her direction.
Zara excused herself, and made it look she was heading to the bathroom. She made sure the bathroom was clear, before putting in her ear piece.
"Alfred, can you hear me?"
"I can hear you loud and clear."
"Tell me that Bruce isn't pulling on some mission impossible crap. I haven't seen him since he left to go to the bathroom. I know my husband, and he doesn't take this long." She hissed.
"I'm sorry, Madam Wayne. He didn't want to worry you."
"Alfred!"
"Sorry Master Wayne. She threatened to have me sleep outside when she found out your secret. I'd rather not sleep outside, if you don't mind."
"Bruce, you and I are gonna have a talk when we get home." Zara said, before taking her ear piece out.
She tucked it back into her clutch, and walked out of the bathroom. She headed to the open bar, and order a Kahlua on the rocks. She was mingling with a few of the rich socialites when someone approached her.
"Mrs. Wayne? Could I ask you a couple of questions for the Daily Planet?"
Zara rolled her eyes, but obliged anyway. Only to be surprised by Clark.
"What questions would you like to ask?"
"First off, I wanna congratulate you on your marriage. Second, after being out of the public eye for so long, how does it feel to be back in the spotlight?"
"I wouldn't say I've been gone, so much as I've taken a break. As for being back in the spotlight, same as it's always been. Stupid, boring, and dull. But then again, a lot of life's decisions are like that. Don't you agree?"
Zara narrowed her eyes slightly.
"I wouldn't know," Clark said. "I've only made decisions that were beneficial for people."
Before Zara said anything, her phone started going off.
"Excuse me."
She pulled her phone out, and looked the caller ID. She walked behind a nearby pillar, and answered.
"Who is this? I'm a little busy."
"What is Bruce up to?"
"How the hell should I know? Who are you?"
"He needs to tred lightly. He doesn't know what he's messing with."
"Who is this? Hello?"
......
When the couple got home, Zara headed straight to her walk-in closet. She shed her shoes, and jewelry first. Then she stripped the jumpsuit off, and hung it on the back of a chair. She put her robe on, and made her way to the master bathroom. She grabbed a few bath items, before starting the water.
"Zara--"
"Not now Bruce. Bath time is relaxation time. Either join me, or get out."
Zara took her robe and undergarments off, before getting into the tub. She leaned back, and closes her eyes. It wasn't long before Bruce shed his clothes to join her. Zara moved so he could sit behind her. The two sat in silence, reveling in each other's company.
"What were you looking for?"
"Hm?"
Zara cranes her head to look at Bruce.
"At Lex's house. You were looking for something. What was it?"
"Zara--"
"Bruce, if this is something that could hurt us, then I need to know. What were you looking for?"
Bruce told Zara about what he found, and how it connected to Luthor.
"Okay, but that doesn't explain why you were snooping around like James Bond."
"There's a possibility that he's found other supers."
"Other supers...."
Zara sat up, and faced Bruce. Her eyes wild with panic, while her face was calm.
"What do you mean, 'He found other supers'?"
"People with powers, enhancements, Z. Supers."
Zara scoffed in disbelief.
"What could Luthor want with supers?"
"I don't know."
........
Zara moved as fast as she could, without waking Bruce. Once she had everything packed, she quickly rushed to the batcave.
"Are you sure you should do this?"
"Do I have a choice, Alfred?"
"Let me rephrase that. Are you sure this is the right choice?"
Zara looked at Alfred.
"If I don't, he'll be ridiculed, and chased off planet. I need to help him."
"Should you?"
Zara's eyes widened. She turned around to see Dick walking towards her.
"What're you doing here?"
"I have a few days off, and wanted to surprise you and Bruce. Zara, what're you doing?"
"I'm not doing this with you, Dick."
The two argued back and forth. Dick was trying to convince Zara to stay in Gotham, and Zara was trying to make Dick understand that she has to help.
"Why? Why do you feel the need to help Superman, so bad?" Dick asked, frustrated.
"BECAUSE WE'RE THE LAST KRYPTONIANS!" Zara yelled, tears running down her cheeks.
Dick and Alfred were shocked. Well, Dick was. Alfred, not so much. He figured Zara was hiding something. He just didn't figure that she was an alien.
"If something were to happen to Kal-El, I'd be alone. It's bad enough that Zod and his cronies created a stigma against him. I'm helping him because he's my brother."
"Fine. But I'm coming with you. I should've said this before, but I'll say it now. You and Bruce took me in, when you didn't have to. Even when you grounded me after finding out I was helping Bruce fight crime. The fact that you're an alien, doesn't change the fact that you're still my mom, and I love you."
It was in that moment, that Zara knew that she helped raised a wonderful person.

AN: Good lord, I am so sorry! I never meant to go this long in between updates. Life happened, and then I lost interest. But I recently watched Justice League, and I got inspired to write for this story again. Hopefully the length of this part will make for the absence!
