One Cat, One Dog

Chapter 2

Nature Dog woke up back where she started: her owner's bedroom. "Ugh", she groaned, "back where we started, right, Sputnik?" Sputnik didn't answer; he was too busy snoring in his little red cage next to the big twin bed. 

The brown dog looked around the room, and then, she noticed something in her paw: a photograph. The same photograph Sputnik showed her way back last night at the Bahamas. Nature Dog took another look at it, and then, she realized, it wasn't just any cat in the picture with her; it was THE Nature Cat!!! The Nature Cat who worked hard and sacrificed his time just for his friend's chew toy! He also might be that cat that Nature Dog is rumored to have had a "fling" with the other day! 

"Oh, Nature Cat", Nature Dog sighed while clutching the photo and wagging her tail, "how I long to see your pretty face again!" But then, she noticed Sputnik waking up. 

"Sputnik! W-What woke y-you up at this hour?" Nature Dog asked sheepishly, trying to hide her blush and the photo of her and Nature Cat. Sputnik replied, "Nature Dog, please! Get the heck back to sleep, or else you'll disturb your owner!" Nature Dog still held the photo in her paw and wagged her tail, blushing at the thought of Nature Cat, and then dropped it and fell back to sleep.

A few days later, Nature Dog and Sputnik moved out of the owner's house to check off more things from Nature Dog's Nature Curiosity list. "Okay, so far, we cleaned up the trash, saved the beehives from the bears, and high-fived the raccoons. What else should we do?", said Nature Dog. 

Before Sputnik could say anything, he saw Nature Dog slip into a mud puddle and bump into something. "Nature Dog! Are you okay?", he exclaimed alarmingly. Nature Dog found herself covered in mud... and holding someone's paw. "Are you okay, ma'am? You sure do look messed up", he said with a worried look as he helped the brown dog out of the mud puddle. Nature Dog held his paw and looked at him in the eyes. It was Nature Cat! She and Sputnik had been in his forest this whole time! Nature Dog couldn't help but blush at the sight of him. 

Nature Cat took off his hat and held it onto his chest, but before he could say anything, he took a glance at the blushing muddy dog, and he couldn't believe who he just saw! It was Nature Dog! Nature Cat blushed for a moment. "Nature Dog! L-long time, no see! H-how has life been?" he said.

Nature Dog could hardly find any words to say to the yellow cat. She was too busy thinking about him and how they hadn't seen him in a while. "G-good. How about y-you, N-Nature Cat?" she finally replied. Sputnik watched the two nature pets blush and talk, and let out a small smile. Maybe Nature Dog DID have a fling and a feeling with Nature Cat, he thought to himself.
