Izuku comes home, already near the corner of their house late at night. He adjusts Katsuki's gakuran over him, holding his yellow bag with one hand and the other patting away the dirt and trying to cover his injuries that his mother can see. He smell faintly of vomit, sees his own uniform torn, his chest stinging red from Aruto's quirk. Izuku hopes his mother is at the kitchen too distracted to see anything of what happened after school.
But Izuku pauses in the middle of the road he's in, too dark for anyone to see him but hr himself sees his illuminated front porch clear as day. The front door opens and a person he knows well exits. His heart speeds up to see that familiar face. A woman, with short spiky blond hair dressed comfortably walks out of his home and returns her gaze inside, surely talking to Izuku's mother.
Bakugou Mitsuki is a beautiful woman, her face does not reflect her age and her raging son in her household. Izuku purses his lips as he always sees Katsuki in her.
Auntie Mitsuki looks tired though, her eyes dimming from it's original fiery red eyes as she whispers something to Izuku's mother. She waves a goodbye and slowly walks out and waves again before Midoriya Inko closes the door. Izuku gets flustered when he realizes Mitsuki walking towards him.
"Izuku." She smiles and Izuku wonders if Katsuki will look that beautiful as well when he smiles.
"Good evening, auntie Mitsuki." He bows politely but he observes her smile falls when she looks down at his clothes.
"Ah! Um! This is--" Izuku scrambles about but freezes when the blond woman suddenly hugs him tight.
"Izuku, you take care in UA, okay? Don't let them bully you, okay? You're aiming to be a hero so you just smack some heads around if that's what it takes!" Izuku feels her hug getting tighter almost paralyzed.
This is weird. He never really talked to Auntie Mitsuki before. Just a glimpse of her in parent's day or school activities with Katsuki. But he does remember that his mother and her are really good friends. He thinks he last visited in his house was when Katsuki and him were having play dates.
"Um, yes!" Izuku stands awkwardly in the hug, doesn't know what to do. "But I don't know if I'll pass the exam since I'm...you know."
Mitsuki stops the hug and steps back. "That didn't stop you before."
Izuku feels his heart squeezing.
"Tell me all about your life in U.A." Mitsuki says, but her eyes look sad. Izuku doesn't understand that. "We have always believed in you."
We? Who's we? Mom and her?
Mitsuki steps back even more, her heels clacking on the asphalt. She reaches out a hand on his cheeks and wipes something out of it. Or she's looking at something. Izuku realized later that Mitsuki was touching his faint scar on his cheek.
"I'm sorry."
Izuku looks up, confused. "What do you mean, Aunt--?"
"Good night, Izuku." Mitsuki cuts, smiling and Izuku can't ask her again. The blond woman turns around and waves a goodbye, as she walked home.
Izuku waves and slowly turns back as well, walking towards his house. He opens his door slowly and meets his mother waiting for him. Her eyes already red from crying. Something must have happened. Auntie and mom.
"Mom? What's wrong? I met Auntie on the way. Did... did something happen?" Izuku dreads on the million possibilities that something is wrong. Mitsuki's presence isn't helping at all. All thoughts go to one person. Katsuki.
"Mom, please tell me. Is something wrong?" Izuku hears his own voice break.
Inko closes her eyes, her hands on her chest and she slowly takes a deep breath. She smiles sadly to her son. "Izuku, you're a mess. What happened to you?"
