A hand grabs him from behind. A small tug on his black gakuran, and a whisper after he looks back. The red orange sky, bringing blue and grey shadows near the middle school building. The color of the darkening sky doesn't mask the stranger's frazzled face or her expression. Sweat runs down the person's face, strands of her brown short hair sticking at her cheeks and her pale green eyes screaming to say something.Izuku knows this person but she may have been a stranger to him. He wants to. He sees her only as a stranger even when Izuku knows she is the one talking to Kacchan after school. That shy little smile she makes to Katsuki, that little tug to his uniform, her words Izuku could never hear even when he strains to, Kacchan's displeased expression yet eyes softer than he has ever seen. Of course, it's an expression he would never see when Katsuki looks at him.
"You're... You're Bakugou-senpai's...?"
Izuku loves Kacchan. He is not proud of it. Why would he love such a bully? Why would he let his heart pang with envy or jealousy? Why would he try so hard to be by his side? Why would his gaze go over Katsuki first every single time he comes inside his class room? Why would he make himself suffer again and again when he knows his future wont come true? Anna-chan's future and his dream of a future. Everyday of every year he finds him, searches for him, his green eyes never letting a single thing of Katsuki pass him. That's why those words shook him to his core. The words of a stranger startled him speechless.
"You don't see it? You don't see him?"
His heart pounded and his fists clenching because how utterly wrong that stranger's words. That person doesn't even know him. That stranger doesn't know how long he prayed, doesn't know how long he's been looking at Katsuki and waiting for that gaze to show his way. This person is talking nonsense and Izuku doesn't know why he couldn't answer her back. Her expression brought memories of his mother's face years and years ago like both of them know something Izuku doesn't. Their expression, just like those people who fawn over Katsuki during kindergarten to elementary to middle school. Like they see something Izuku is blind to and it irked him every single day.
"Look at him or it'll be too late!"
Too late for what? Too late for another day of hell, the bullying, the teasing, the pity? Too late for realizing your dreams will not come true? Too late in saying he loves his childhood friend? Well, he knows that. Izuku knows that but he's still standing here, right? He wouldn't say goodbye yet. Not yet. Not when Katsuki clearly and utterly convince his stubborn self that he sees Izuku as nothing. Not when Izuku will finally accept that his dream wouldn't be a reality. Not when he'll give up everything.
Izuku sees the girl's frustrated face, he sees her bite her lips until it turned red and she walks away. Izuku never sees her with Katsuki after that. After a few months, Izuku remembers that that girl was a first year in their school. She was bullied for whatever reasons maybe similar to Izuku's but she went away, transferred schools. He doesn't even remember her much, maybe too focused hiding behind bushes and buildings when Merei Aruto comes searching for him. An empathy quirk, the power to empathize other people's emotions.
Izuku shakes his head and goes back to listening to class. He steals a glance of Katsuki's back and scribbles down a few words.
This doesn't matter now. He needs to focus. He needs to work hard to enter U.A., he needs to study and he needs to train. He wishes tomorrow would be a good day. To make his life a little better. To make it at little brighter.
Tomorrow is his birthday, after all.

I love this rewind thing. It's stopping me from writing the actual story content hahahahah! Naaaah. Im just kidding, I really like this. To those who continue to read my works, I'm really happy even when 85% I'm like this:
Thank you very much!!! I haven't killed a character for quite some time now! Damn! I wanna kill Katsuki again. Or Izuku but that wouldn't make much sense would it?
Hahahahahah 😂😋
