Red. It was all I could see even in the dim light of the table lamp. The smell of the metallic liquid filled my nostrils. My whole body started to shiver with fear. I could hear my heart pounding so fast. I stayed rooted to the ground, unable to move as I was paralyzed with fear. My eyes followed the trail of blood leading me to Dad's study.
With some of the courage I had left I managed to push the door of the room open. My eyes were horrified to see the scene in front of me. I felt like I couldn't breathe anymore as if some one had their muscular hands cupped on my neck strangling me, choking the breath I had out of me. I tried to remove the locked hands on my neck with all the force I had left. Yet it wasn't long before I lost consciousness and everything went black.
"NOOO!" I woke up sweating like a mess. My breathing was uneven and I felt tears streaming down my cheeks. I quickly reached out to wipe them before I reach the state where I couldn't stop anymore. I reached other my bedside drawer to pull out my antidepressants, quickly swallowing them with a glass of water. Nightmares like these are nothing new to me. I reached out to my phone to check the time which was 6:10 which means I had two hours to get ready.
I stripped out of the comfy T-shirt and shorts to step in a warm shower scrubbing any dirt on my body using my favorite strawberry body wash. It always makes me smell like strawberries. Washing my hair that's was almost black and conditioning it afterwards.I stepped out of the shower drying myself with a soft towel putting on a pair of skinny ripped jeans and a off should blouse, grabbing my jacket and then blow drying my hair. I brushed my hair and then put it into a bun. Grabbing my bag and stuffed the books inside before leaving the room.
I hurried my way down the stairs checking the time on my phone to see that it was 7:30. I scanned throughout the living room only to find that my mum was nowhere to be seen. Yet the smell of pastry let me know of her location. I wasted no time in rushing my way to greet the strongest women I look up to.
"Hey Mum! Morning!" I say greeting her with a kiss on the cheek.
"Good Morning Sweetie!" She says lifting her head to flash me a smile. She stood by the stove where she was baking blueberry pancakes. She was dressed in her work attire, a blue and white striped blouse and a plain pencil skirt paired with a fine pair of black heels. Her brunette hair was neatly combed and tied in a bun. What actually caught my eye was the red checkered apron on her which was a Mother's day gift from Harry, my elder brother.Speak of the devil and here he comes with his morning attitude as that of a teenager undergoing puberty. Mornings were never his thing unlike me though. Being an early riser has its perks. For me it was getting the time to relax and get everything done at ease, not in a rush. Besides, it helps me clear up my mind and think which has become crucial for me lately.
"MUUM! Why did you ruin my sleep! I still have an hour left till College!" He whines rubbing his eyes like a kid forcefully woken up for the first day of school.
"Harry Ace Williams! I've got better things to do than listen to your constant complaining. Now go and get yourself ready or there will be no breakfast for you." Says my mom shaking her head in disbelief. Probably questioning her sanity at the moment.
"Why don't you learn a thing or two from your sister. She is so much better than you!" She sighs handing me a plate of my favorite blueberry pancakes. I chuckle at the reaction on his face before getting up for the stool and opening the fridge to pour myself a glass of orange juice.
His eyes squint over to me as if just noticing me being there.
"Morning Lily! Have a great day at school." He says before ruffling my hair and leaving to his room.
"Hey I just brushed that!" I say trying to be annoyed. But deep down I know that he's changed.
He's gotten mature after the incident. I guess we all have. I was pulled out of my thoughts by the sound of my Mum's phone ringing.
"Yes Mary, I'll be right there." She began speaking to the person on the phone whom I am guessing is Mary, a colleague of my Mum. The sweet lady has been here a couple of times which explains how I know her.
Knowing that Mom would be busy and she wouldn't be back till noon, I pulled out my phone and started texting my ride, Julia. She had always been there for me when I needed her. I could never thank her enough for that.
Me: Hey! Jules, where r you
Julia❤: on my way! Mom left a dead walrus in my car today😡What do you think would happen then?
Me: ok! Hurry don't wanna be late! 😊
Julia❤: be there in 5😉
I finished my breakfast and put the dishes in the dishwasher. I heard the sound of honking. I grabbed my bag and headed out the door where my best friend stood, leaning against her blue BMW. She was wearing a white crop top with denim jeans. Her hair blonde hair was left down and she greeted me with one of her best signature smiles."Aww! Look at my baby all grown up and leaving the nest. You made momma proud!" She said being melodramatic as ever pretending to wipe away the fake tears in her eyes.
I just roll my eyes and pull her in a hug.
"Hey Jules, so where is the dead walrus you were talking about?" I asked her trying to hold back my laughter as much as I could.
"I ain't a walrus now get your asses in the car before I leave you guys and drive to school all by myself." Justin said being annoyed as ever.
"Shut up walrus! Come on" Julia replies before pulling me into the vehicle and roaring the engine back to life.
Justin was Julia's younger brother and it was his junior year at high school. He had the same blonde hair as Julia but had green eyes with the same annoying personality that I had grown to love.My favorite song " heading home by Ruben and Alan Walker" blast through the speakers of the car. I could feel my self swaying my body along the beat with Justin and Julia. They always knew how to cheer me up. We all started to sing along the lyrics. Anyone who saw us would have probably thought we were all drunk or perhaps escaped the mental asylum. We probably sounded like a flock of crows trying to sing. But we still continued to sing like we had no care in the world.

I was so insatiable
'Til the lights came on and the stories got old
Now there's no one here I know
And the city outside's not the same anymoreAnd I
I remember when we were young
We'd write our names in the sand, so carelessly
Then the rain came and yours was gone
And now mine, it stands aloneNobody sees me
Now, I'm a one man show
I'll do this on my own
We knew it all then
Now, this is all I know
Guess I'm heading home now..

And before we even knew it we were pulling into the parking lot of a large building surrounded by various types of flora and greenery. We got out of the car and started walking towards the building that was probably standing tall for centuries. Who knows?
As we walked along the pathways my eyes found its way to the golden name plate proudly displaying it's name which read Evergreen High School. The school was nice with a warm welcoming atmosphere, plenty of trees to get lost in and friendly teachers.
If only the students were as friendly as the happiness radiating from the infrastructure and teachers itself. What a waste?
My mind was fully deprived of any happiness left as I thought of the students here at Evergreen High, a nightmare in disguise indeed.
As a freshman or a Sophomore you are bound to get deceived by the million dollar smiles, sweet talks and perfect discipline.
But as you spend more time here you get to know the other side, the dark side of these role model students. You get to know how fake they actually are know that bullying here is as common as oxygen in the air. Newbies make an excellent target don't you think?
Lucky for me though, I had a personal bodyguard whose bark was worse than her bite. Yes my best friend, Julia. Although that doesn't stop them from making remarks behind my back and taking advantage of her absence.
I didn't have the slightest idea why I was so much hated by the queen B and the most prized possession of Evergreen High, Rachel Richards. The girl feared by all as she is the principal's daughter. Even thinking about her made me cringe so I shrugged it off and walked towards my locker.Burkely Duffield as Justin Will Smith
