"Grounded? You're not being logical." I shouted. "Well maybe you shouldn't have lied to us. Then maybe we wouldn't be in this predicament Allison!" My dad took a seat in the couch and turned on the television. "Maybe I lied, because I knew you would've said no if I wasn't with him!" I pointed to Aaron. "Just listen to your dad, Allison." Aaron whispered to the air.
"No! You of all people just shut up I don't want to hear another word from your mouth right now!" I turned to face Aaron. "That's no way to talk to people, honey." My mother's voice became audible. "Mom please not right now!" I gripped onto the jacket in my hand.
"You know what? Ground me. Do whatever you want to do, because it'll just further prove my point. I'm going to bed." I began to walk up the stairs, but then Aaron spoke. "Good night." I looked back and glared at him before running up the stairs.
It was his fault that I got caught. He came in to tell my parents about them- my new friends. Of course he would, he was jealous. No- maybe he was scared- scared that I might leave him or forget him if I wasn't constantly breathing the same air as him or talking to him every free second of the day.
I climbed into my bed and didn't bother changing. I looked at my phone and realized that I didn't have any of their numbers. I forgot to ask for them today! I put my phone down and got up and took a quick shower, because if I didn't do it now, I would be upset in the morning. After that I lie back in bed and fell into a deep sleep.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My alarm clock buzzed to wake me up for my Saturday routine. It was 5:55 a.m. leaving me with 30 minutes to get ready. I put on a tank top and a blue button-up plaid shirt with my blue jeans and vans. I walked all the way to the café near my house with my homework in my book bag.
When I finally reached the glass doors, I opened them up and listened to the bells chime. I order a frappe and take a seat near the back, not wanting to be bothered by anyone. Just as I sat down I heard the bells chime just as they had before, but decided it was better to not look up. I continued to stare at the problems in my math book, dissecting each point and step but just could seem to understand it.
I felt someone hovering over me, and finally looked up to see that it was Gilinsky. He held his hands behind his back and wore a black crewneck sweater and khaki cargo pants. "You're supposed to use this formula and multiply it by twice the base of the triangle." He took the pencil from between my hands and wrote out the steps quickly. "Thanks?" I was unsure of how a person like him understood this, and even I couldn't do it. "What are you doing here?" I asked, scared. I have never seen him around and surely didn't want to see him when I was trying to study. Was he following me?
"I come here a lot." He lied. "Funny because I come here every week and never have I ever seen you, and trust me, you're not that hard to miss." I packed my math book away. "Okay I was lying. I don't come here a lot, but I do go on morning drives a lot, and I happened to see you today so I thought to myself 'hey Jack why don't you see where Allison's headed?'" Jack admitted. "So you admit you were stalking me?" I laughed. "I guess so." He smirked. "I could get you arrested for that ya know?" I tried to sound serious, but failed miserably. "Yeah as if you would." He was right. I didn't have the guts to do something like that.
It was quiet for a while and then I noticed how awkward it was getting so I packed away my stuff. "Hey you wanna hang out today?" Gilinsky asked. "I forgot to say that I'm grounded." I faked a smile. "For what? Didn't you just hang out with us last night?" He took a seat. "Well that's why I'm in trouble. I lied and told my parents that Aaron was going to be there, because if I hadn't then I knew they weren't going to let me hang out with you guys.
"Why wouldn't they have let you hang out with us?" Oh no here we go again. "Because I'm me and you guys are you. I haven't had a single friend except Aaron, and I guess they like that I don't have many friends, I guess?" I stood up and pushed my chair in. "Well what's that supposed to mean?"
"I told you they don't want me to hang out with people like you. How else do you want me to say it?" I arched my eyebrows in frustration. "Nevermind. I shouldn't have said anything." Gilinsky stood up. "Do you need a ride or-anything?" he scratched the back of his head. "No I think I'll walk back home I don't feel like getting in anymore trouble." I didn't wait for a response and stormed out of the café.
