It was Monday and all that studying with Gilinsky was paying off. His grades were raising and he passed his trig test with a 95 only missing two questions. The teachers were so pleased with his work, and they even congratulated him for it.
Gilinsky was changing his mind about college saying that he was actually thinking of applying to some places. I would help him write his essays and we would look at what colleges were good for what he wanted. For once, I felt like his life was going right.
I walked down the halls smiling for no reason at all. That was until I saw Jack smoking a cigar under the school stair case. I stopped walking and got closer to him. He saw me and looked me right in the eyes before huffing out a vapour of smoke.
"I thought you said you were stopping." I held my books to my chest. "Yeah well not anymore." He simply said with a frown on his face. "And I'm not going to any of those damn colleges either." He seemed angry. "What happened?" I grunted and took a seat next to him.
"She broke up with me." I already knew who she was. I couldn't think of anything to really say so all I could really do was take the cigarette that was between his fingers and throw it on the ground. "What was that for?" He yelled. I was trying to think of something to say, but sadly, I couldn't. So I put my books down and cupped his face in my hands and smiled at him.
"You're a really smart boy, Jack." I whispered. "Don't throw this all away because some stupid girl broke up with you. There will be another girl who will love you, okay?" I was still holding his face. I saw a smirk appear on his face. "Can that girl possibly be you, Allison?" I didn't know what to say.
"Wh-what?" I took my hands away from his face. The class bell rung and we stood there under the stair case. Jack shook his head, laughing and placed a kiss on my lips.
He was holding onto me tightly and just staring at me as if nothing just happened. "We can talk about this after class, alright?" Jack tried reassuring me about the kiss but I just couldn't see it being real.

I was walking to the lunch room and I saw Shawn, the Jacks, Nash, and Cameron all together. Jack G waved me over like he normally did and I took a seat next to Shawn. His face was gloomy-like and he was playing with his food. "Aww why didn't you come sit next to me?" Gilinsky pouted. "Yeah why don't you sit next to your boyfriend instead." Cameron said teasingly.
"I don't have a boyfriend." I protested. Cameron and Nash filled the room with "ooo's" making a big deal out of nothing. Shawn sat there awkwardly, almost as embarassed.
Jack probably told them. He is so stupid why would he do that me? Why would he do that to Shawn? I ignored the boys and tried to make conversation with Shawn.
"So Shawn how'd you do on that test?" I smiled, sipping on my water. "Fine I guess." He never looked up for a second. "Hey you wanna come over to my house today? My parents really miss you." They really hadn't mentioned him but I needed him to talk to me. All the boys stared at me as if in shock that I asked such a question when I was supposed to be with Jack. "Uh- actually I got plans tonight, but thanks for the offer." Shawn stood up and threw his trash into the bin and to never return back to the seat next to me for the remainder of lunch.
We ate in silence and every now and then Jack J would try to start up a conversation but we would shut him down. Jack G gulped down his orange juice quickly and asked me to sit next to him. There wasn't much to lose since there was only The Jacks and I left at the table. I stood up and sat next to him.
"Now what?" I was a but frustrated. "Haha cool down I just wanted you to be closer." He wrapped me into a hug. He tried to nuzzle himself into my neck, but I rejected. Just then, Gia came into the cafeteria and looked at the two of us angrily. "Moved on so quickly huh?" she folded her arms and put a frown on her face. "Nah it's not like that, Gia." I spoke to her calmly, standing up from the seat. "Why don't you just shut up for once, slut. Go back to where you belong; with your rich snobby friends okay?" She yelled.
For once her words didn't shake me. I looked her dead in the eyes, no emotion in them at all. "Gia, why would I do that? We just started getting along and-" I paused scared of what might come out of my mouth. "And what?" She was waiting for a response. By this time, the whole cafeteria was staring at us. I didn't like this attention but I needed to say it.
"And you know I like Shawn." I said cooly, in a hushed voice. Gia's eyes softened and went back to the hard, cold ones like before.
"That doesn't mean a damn thing to me, Allison." She stomped out of the lunch room leaving me there with the Jacks and all the children with their pupils lunged right at us.
I sat down again and Gilinsky was staring at me. He seemed in shock, almost angry. He shook his head and walked away along with Johnson, leaving me alone.
I felt tears coming. Both of them hated me now. I mean Gilinsky and I had nothing so why was he so mad that I said that? I stood up and ran out the lunch room into the hallways with tears already exploding out of my eyes. I pushed the metal doors open and bumped right into Shawn. "H-hi." I tried to wipe my tears away quickly, but it was too late. "I heard what you said in there." Shawn stated. We stared at each other for a long time. "And-and I like you to, Allison. I wanna get to know you better."
No response.
What was I supposed to say?
"Were you crying?" He already knew the answer but decided to ask anyways. I nodded my head and he hugged me. I hugged him back, and for once in my life, I felt okay. He rubbed circles on my back and after what seemed like forever he let go.
"Can I still come over today?" He smiled. "Yeah." I finally spoke, smiling back.
