The next day at school, we acted like nothing happened. It was like we hadn’t spent a whole day talking. Aaron seemed mad, but I don’t know why he was. I mean, did he actually expect me to spend the rest of my life with one friend? What about when we went to different colleges and we had different lives? Our goals in life were very far from each other’s, further proving my point.
They went the whole day without saying a single word to me. I was so sure that they wanted nothing to do with me for sure and then it was 3 in the afternoon again and I saw Shawn smoking at the bike rack again. I looked down and tried not to make eye contact with him. He didn’t seem like the same Shawn anymore, after seeing him cry and him kiss me I knew I would never see him the same.
“Allison hey!” Shawn called. I looked up at him and he was smiling. “Hi!” I shouted back, trying to unchain my bike. He took the cigarette out of his mouth and threw it away, before kneeling on the ground and asking if I needed help. Shawn didn’t wait for my reply, he just did it. “So um, a whole bunch of the guys and I are going to the movies today, since its Friday and all. I was wondering if you weren’t busy then maybe you can come with us?” Shawn helped me up..
“Uh, I don’t know if that’s a good idea…” I tried looking away, but he took my chin in his hands and turned my face to stare at him. “It’ll be really fun Allison. I’ll buy you popcorn and candy if you want.” He laughed. “Well now that you say that……” I looked away and giggled. “I’m assuming that’s a yes.” Shawn was still looking at me.
We stared at each other for a few moments and we leaned into kiss, but then someone spoke. “Hey did Shawn already invite you to the movies with us?” Gilinsky smirked. We pulled away quickly. “Oh I’m sorry, was I interrupting something?” Gilinsky laughed. I looked back and saw that the whole gang was standing around Shawn and I. “Dude what the hell.” Shawn was blushing. Oh my god was he actually getting all shy and embarrassed? This was so adorable.
It’s like he had forgotten half of yesterday had even happened, and decided to remember the good parts. “So we’ll be seeing you tonight?” Johnson stepped up. “Yeah.” I nodded my head. “I’ll pick you up at 6 okay?” Shawn kissed my cheek quickly. “Ok.” I got onto my bike. “Bye guys!” I waved to them. “Bye Mrs. Lovergirl!” Cameron shouted as I rode away.

I made it home barely on time. It was 5:15 and that left me with forty-five minutes to look beautiful. I took a 15 minute shower and blow dried my hair for about 10 more minutes. I looked at the clock and I only had 20 minutes! I took out my black shirt and wore my highwaisted jeans and slipped on my black flats.
I brushed my hair quickly and ran downstairs grabbing my purse. I put my phone in it and walked into the living room. “Where are you going Allison?” I heard my father ask. “Um, I’m going to the movies with a couple of friends.” I grabbed my jacket and began to walk towards the door, but my dad stopped me. “And who exactly are these friends? You know I don’t like you hanging out with kids we haven’t formally met.” I looked at him trying to come up with a response.
“Um Aaron said he was going…” I lied. “Is that so? Well I can’t find a reason to deny you.” My dad let me pass. “Thanks! Bye, dad!” I ran out of the house and waited for Shawn’s motorcycle.
He pulled up wearing a plain grey shirt and jeans with those stupid boots. “Allison hey!” He screamed. “SHHH!” I ran towards him and slapped my hands over his mouth. “I don’t want my dad coming outside and trying to talk to you.” I hopped onto the back of his motorcycle and put on the helmet.

We made it to the movies and I saw Gilinsky, Johnson, Cameron, and Gia. We bought our tickets and went in the food line. “Hey you guys go find a seat and we’ll buy the food.” Shawn said to Gia and I. I stared back at her in horror and she smiled. I followed her into theatre 9 and we got seats smacked in the middle. I took a seat and Gia sat next to me.
“Hey.” She said politely. “He really likes you.” Gia finished. “He does?” I smiled. Why was she being so nice to me all of a sudden? “Yeah he does.” She was silent for a moment and then spoke again. “Sorry about the other day I was being really nasty about the whole situation.” She apologized. “It’s alright.” I said. She stared at me for a moment and hit my arm softly. “Don’t expect me to apologize for things, because I don’t do that very often so feel special.” I laughed, and just then, the boys emerged into the movies holding the food and drinks.
Shawn took the seat next to me and set the cup into the holder between us. “I bought you these. I don’t know if you like them or not.” He handed me a box of Hershey drops. “Thanks! And yeah I do like these.” I kissed his cheek quickly. “Um, do you want some popcorn?” he seemed nervous, because his hands were shaking and he plastered on a smile. “When the movie starts.” I looked towards the screen and stared intently at the trailers.
After about 15 minutes the movie began and I heard Shawn take a deep breath and put his arms around my shoulder. Gia took notice and kicked my foot. I leaned my head into his shoulder and continued watching the movie. This night was going so well.

The movie wasn’t as bad as I thought and I really don’t like action films. Shawn took me home and said goodnight, leaving me on my front porch. It was about to be 9 so I pulled out my keys and opened the door.
I stood in shock as I saw Aaron and my parents sitting in the livingroom, and they carried their attention to me. My parents had a look of anger in their faces. “Where have you been?” Aaron stood up.
Why is Shawn letting go of what he said to her the other night? Did he forget or change his mind? Is he hiding something that they all know except Allison?
