It was early december and Merope gaunt, a descendant of the wizard salazar slytherin, had taken a walk into the muggle world. It was a common venture of hers, muggles fascinated her they made her feel powerful as in the wizarding world she was just another witch but to the muggles she could've been so powerful. On this particular day however her interest didn't reside on the power she had but with the appearance of an unknown man to her, a muggle of course but she sensed something she hadn't felt towards a muggle ever before... love.

This man rode a horse another fascination to Merope as it seemed such a feeble mode of transport but having seen him riding the creature it only strengthened the feelings she had... He was so charming, he looked over at her and she hid her gaze, breaking the stare she had upon him.

One think she shared with her slytherin relatives was confidence and having seen such an attractive muggle Merope had to approach him... she timidly approached the horse which had stopped to graze and began to stroke it's mane.

"what a beautiful creature" she said to the man now stood next to her.

"why thank you my lady" he replied

"my lady? you muggles are strange" she laughed

noticing the bewildered look upon the mans face she realised she had used a wizarding term so quickly tried to cover her mistake.

"i'm sorry if my terminology confuses you, i'm not from around here you see... i'm well i can't really say where i'm from but you wouldn't recognise the area anyway, it's further than a horse can get you."

"ah, i see, well my names tom, tom riddle pleasure to meet you... i wish i could stay and talk i really do but i have to be on my way... family business to atend to." he said mounting his horse

"that's fine, lovely meeting you... i look forward to our next meeting" Merope shouted as he rode into the distance.

Still standing on the patch of grass where she met this intriguing man Merope pondered her feelings towards him... her entire family had a strange distaste towards to muggles and halfbloods they always looked upon them with a feeling of sympathetic disgust, if one of the family were to fall in love with one they would for sure be shunned by the entire family but still her passion grew towards this man.

Over the following weeks Merope ventured back to the spot where they had met and although they shared the odd passing comment the majority of her time was spent watching Tom pass by day by day... it seemed her love was not mutual and although this pained her Merope still saw the prospect of a future with the Riddle name replacing Gaunt.

Over the next couple of months hurt turned to desperation and with it came a plan... the next time Merope saw Tom pass her by she offered him a drink, it was a hot day and so he accepted the welcome break. Once Tom's lips had touched the bottle the drink had contained a newly developed look of passion appeared towards Merope and within the next second he was holding her tightly in his arms pulling her into a kiss...

Merope was filled with joy, her potion had worked and the man she had desired had finally became hers. She knew it wasnt ideal and planned to ween him off the potions once she saw it fit but for now he was under her spell. As Tom was so deeply in love the wedding was arranged with haste to take place on the second of march and due to Tom's vast wealth he went all out, of course he did... to his knowledge he was in love like he'd never been before.
