I was at the grocery store stocking up when it happened, there were gunshots and screaming. I tried to look for an exit but it was all the way on the other side and if I'm not mistaken, there and the front of the store is where they're coming from. Soon the assaulter came in my direction and there was nowhere to run anymore. I looked up at the gunman and felt shocked “Hands behind your back turn around and walk to me slowly” The deviant demanded and I did just that.

I felt something slither around the both of my hands before it tightened unbearably, I was then taken and pushed into the other hostages.

After a couple minutes, they gathered the rest of the people, and I was able to take a head count. Sixteen hostages and four androids, gunshots were fired so police should be here.

Stealthily, I took my hands from behind me to under me then in front of me, I pulled at the laces of my boot on my right foot and started to snake it into the restraints. I knotted it to my other lace and waited for the deviant to leave his post, one he did I started to saw the zip tie, it flew off my wrist then onto the ground. I put my hands back behind me and scooted against the register.

There was a boom and glass began the fall onto the ground, a deviant crashed onto the ground and stood there. It only took a couple seconds before the sight of blue blood seeped out his skull “There's a sniper” a second deviant called before another window broke, and he also fell.

A ray of hope shined on everyone as only one deviant remained but it was quickly put out when the last deviant ran up and took a woman in its arms. It held a gun to her head “God please no, I have a child” she cried “Shut up” The deviant commanded, and she shut her mouth, now whimpering.

The front door to the store opened and an android with its standard RK800 jacket and a tie entered, in the looks department it could make anyone melt on a hot summer day.

“My names Connor, what is yours?” The android asked and the deviant yelled back “It doesn't matter, ill be shot down the moment I let her go!” he held the gun closer to her head, and she let out a wail.

“No, I can help you, you just have to let the woman go” He insisted and the deviant stayed silent for a second “Why couldn't you help my friends, you shot them down like animals” he shouted, the gun in his hand started shaking, his index finger was moving, he was going for the trigger.

I lept up from my spot and both the deviant and androids head quickly turned to me, the gun pointed at the woman was pointed to me and shot but missed. I pushed the woman aside and pushed the deviant to the ground where not a second later the sniper took his shot.

I turned to the android and my shirt started to get drenched with something hot, my legs gave out and my side gave the most horrible pain I've ever felt. The android that was at the front door was now looming over me, pressing against the bullet wound with his jacket.

“An ambulance has been contacted, try to stay awake for me,” he said in a very distant voice “Is the woman okay” I choke out “Yes, she will be fine, just keep talking” he insisted and everything around me started going dark “I can't, I'm so tired” I barely managed the last words before everything went dark.

The sound of a monitor filled the room and it took a second for me to lift my heavy eyes, the room was florescent almost white and smelled heavily of cleaners. I close my eyes again from the bright light before reopening them.

I saw my room covered with flowers as if I was getting ready to be buried. I looked around a while longer to see that I was in a hospital room. Trying to sit up from my uncomfortable position, I shifted in the bed and felt a horrible pain in my side. I took a couple seconds to recall the what happened, the deviants, the android, the woman.

I heard the door open and there was nurse with an IV bag in her hand, she seemed a bit surprised to see me awake, but she quickly replaced it with a smile “You had a bit of a doozy didn't you, if it wasn't for the nice android holding that wound, you wouldn't be here” Not exactly the thing you say smiling. “He seemed to be really worried too, refusing to leave your side at all, heck he even was on the ambulance on the way here” she replaced the old IV bag with the new one.

“I'd be surprised if he doesn't stop by later” She smiled once again before leaving the room. The pain in my side started to be reduced, I played the scene overrun “My names Connor” rang through my head.

It was a couple hours and a hundred TV channels later when I heard the door open, I sighed “I'm not hungry thank you” I didn't bother to look at the door, thinking it was another nurse asking if I wanted any food.
“Strange, the nurses told me to try to convince you to eat” A familiar voice questioned and I turned my head quickly to see Connor standing there “Oh, sorry I just assumed you were one of them” I chuckled and turned the TV off. “I'm the one that's sorry, I should've been more careful with the mission” He sat down in the chair beside my bed.

“So I've heard you've been staying by my side” I smirk “Yes, somethings been bugging at me saying I need to see you, but now that we have talked it's bugging me more” He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion “Like guilt?” I asked, and he shook his head “Not that can't be it, it's not in my program” He quickly retaliated “That must be it, there's no other reason for you to visit me” I shot back and began sitting up.

I let out a wheeze as pain shot up my side “I'll get a nurse” He began to get up but I quickly grabbed his hand “If I have to talk to one of those nurses again I'm gonna jump out that window” I laughed weakly. Connor looked down at me and a small smile pulled on his lip “Alright, no nurses but you need to eat, it'll make you get better” He turned back around to face me “Sheesh fine, but can you get it for me” I smiled trying to convince him “Yes, I'll be back in a few minutes (Y-n)” He turned around again and headed towards the door. Strange I don't remember telling him my name.

It's been a week since I met Connor and I'm finally being released by the hospitals, of course Connor was there when I finally left “Its strange, I evaluated all the flowers in your room but a lot of them came from the family of the woman and not your own” He explained his findings to me as I got into his car “Well I don't have much family to begin with” I responded, and he sat quietly for a while “I see, well I'm glad to have been there for you” he smiled and I leaned my head against the window “Don't say it like it's like the last time we'll ever meet” I chuckle as he stops at a red light.

“Apologies, but I've been thinking. When you said I felt guilty, I tried to rule it out but since meeting you, I've taken a liking to you and perhaps it was guilt, I've felt scared before so it would be wrong of me to rule it out” He turned towards me and my face began to burn bright red.

“Well, I've taken a liking to you too” I turn my face so that it was looking out the window. I could feel Connor beaming and his tone seemed to be much happier

“I'm glad”.
