SLENDER
Versailles, France. 1940.
I remember that day, like it was yesterday. My unit and I were at a hotel in Versailles, France, playing cards when I got the call. A comet had just crashed into Versailles, France and they wanted my group of solders to drive there and investigate the area. The eight of us then jumped into a hummer and headed down highway A1 to Parc Georges Valbon, the park that the comet had crashed in. It was the strangest site. When we got there and started looking around, we saw a comet that was half blown apart and debris littered the ground. There was greenish-blue slime in some areas in the park, by where we stood. It was very strange. Details come back slowly as I think about what my unit found, next. We noticed that there was a black footprint in the dirt, to my left. The footprint looked like a wolf's footprint, longer and wider, but the same feature. There was a tree to my right, and I believe I saw something move. I ran over to where I saw the image and as I rounded the tree, I got knocked off my feet. Something the size of a car, came towering towards me. I ducked just in time as he attacked. I then pulled out my rifle and shot at him and commanded my unit to do so, also. The thing finally went out cold. It was a dark figure, no face at all (are at least hidden). It was a pretty freaky thing. Dark and slimy all over, kinda of like an alien, in a way. We then grabbed the thing and drove to the nearest scientific research base, in Paris, France.
Paris, France, 1940.
We met with professor Hockens and he said he's never seen anything like this before. He explained that this was a sorta of new species or something. He said, we should put it in the old Tree to freeze it. The Tree was our sorta of freezer. The next day, we took it out and found out it wasn't breathing. We buried it in a coffin and stuffed it in the Tree. We promised to never open the Tree, for fear it was playing tricks on us and it was still alive. 50 years later, 1990, that promise... was broken.
Chapter 1.
Paris, France, 1990
"Billy, Billy, where are you? You said we were going to meet here and let you don't show." Joey said in a english accent.
It was a dark cloudy day. It was cold and the haunting chill of the cold air could make your hair stand on every end. There was a slight breeze in the distance and every so often it would stop. And start up again.
"Joey, Joey, i'm right here. Now stop your clamming, 'for you awake the cops. We're not supposed to be here, you know." Billy said in a british accent.
"Sorry, I yell, when i'm nervous. Now what are we looking for again?"
"The ancient tree... of death."
"Don't say it like that. Sounds scarier than it really is. Now stop messing around, would you. We don't want to get that thing mad. Or the cops, for that matter."
"Don't worry. It won't hurt us." He said hopefully.
They walked over to a door, that surprising was unlocked. They opened the door and inside was a another door strait ahead, with a key hanging from it. They took the key and opened the door. Outside was another key hanging from a tree branch and in front of them was the Tree, with a key imprint in the center.
"Thats one weird tree." Billy said.
"Sure is. What gets me the most, though, is the fact that the key is hanging from the tree, not inside, where it should be." Joey said.
"Yeah, who cares though. Less work for us. So how do we open up the tree?" Billy said.
"What do you think the keys for." Joey said sarcastically.
"Sorry, didn't know. I'm not thinking strait, right know, for some reason."
Billy then took the key and pushed it through the center of the tree and turned the key counter-clockwise. The tree opened up in an instant. Cold air blew against there faces. Inside was a black coffin with cob webs lining the inside of the tree. You could tell, it's been 50 years since it's been opened. It was a long coffin measuring about 7 feet and 12 inches wide. They pulled the coffin out and it hit the ground with a thud.
