The boys had a day break after the Minneapolis concert, allowing them time to rest their voices and relax a bit. The other boys had found their way to the mall of America, but not Harry.
Instead, Harry found himself in a rented car driving through Rochester, where he had lived for several months. Where Kelsey lived.
It was quite the interesting experience telling the boys that he knew one of the girls with the backstage pass but an even more interesting experience telling them why he had disappeared with her right in the middle of the event. They were in just as much shock as Harry was, which was slightly reassuring to Harry to know that he wasn't exactly overreacting.
As angry at Kelsey as he might have been, he had stopped himself from asking a lot of questions that night, finally ready to talk about it, Harry was on his way to confront her. It was about an hour and forty minute drive from Minneapolis to Rochester, giving Marcel plenty of time to carefully think of how to put word himself. He still wasn't any less hurt by it, however. In fact, the more he thought about it the harder his hands tightened around the steering wheel. But sometimes it was better to face the problem instead of trying to bury it so deep within himself that only he would ever know about it. The effects of a method such as that could leave someone in a withering state.
She had stated that she worked for Modest. Meaning she no longer does? Why so? More questions to add to the list he planned on interrogating her with.
It was instinct to turn into the apartment parking lot, after all he had done it so many times before when he had lived there. As Harry slammed the door of the rental car and practically jogged to the doors it felt as if he were in one of the cheesy romance movies that the guy chases after the girl to profess his love for her and then kiss her to prove it.
But in actuality Harry and Kelsey's romance movie was running out of time, which was why he took the steps by two. Every second was ticked off by the drumming heartbeat in Harry's ears. He didn't pause for one moment to give himself a chance to contemplate what he was actually doing. He just raised his fist and began to pound on the familiar door like it was the last thing he could do.
He could hear footsteps from inside. Perspiration had gathered in the palms of Harry's hands and he wiped them quickly off on his thighs. He became fidgety, rocking back and forth from foot to foot, pursing his mouth in different ways to distract himself from how long it took for the footsteps to actually reach the door.
The barrier swung open, revealing a man somwhere in his early twenties with a pair of basketball shorts and a nike shirt on his well in shape body. He was running a hand through his wet hair, obviously had just gotten out of the shower.
Completely absurd thoughts showered Harry's mind by the fact that a strange man was answering Kelsey's door. Had she really gotten over him that fast? Or was there never anything to get over in the first place.
Harry's jaw slackened at the thought that Kelsey had found herself new company to keep around, and the anger he had worked so hard to suppress came boiling back to the surface more fiery than ever.
"Is Kelsey here?" His nefarious smile didn't reach his eyes.
"Um," The stranger spoke, glancing over his shoulder. Harry followed his gaze inside. The place was completely redone, unrecognizable by the strange furtiture and items. "Who's Kelsey?"
Harry's eyebrows knit together. He had stood on this doorstep a billion times before. He knew the number by heart, his old apartment was just down the hall. He glanced at it just to make sure, and then his eyes wandered back to the man.
"Oh! I know what you mean," The stranger spoke again. "She moved out a little more than 5 months ago. Found another place, I guess." He said, then gestured to Harry with a slender finger. "You're Harry Styles aren't you?" He inquired.
