Continuation of “Phantom”

You remembered your first kiss with Yoongi fairly well.

It started out like any regular cafe hangout, but you were a little more excited that day. You didn’t really understand why-- maybe because you were giddy that day with excitement at having placed #1 in the school exams.

Your fingers rapped against the table, giggling softly to yourself and Yoongi looked up at you with somewhat apprehension.

“What’s up with you?” He asked nervously.

“I’m just-- ahh, really… happy, I guess,” you responded. Yoongi didn’t seem exactly satisfied with that answer, but he didn’t bring it up. He looked down at the pastry lying on the plate in front of him, before looking up at you.

“Did you place well in like… a state exam or some shit?” Yoongi asked you. You giggled.

“Yes! Yes I did,” you responded.

“That’s predictable,” said Yoongi. “You’re a teacher’s pet through and through…”

“Ugh, that again? I told you I want to break out of that stereotype. I don’t like being chained down, and I feel like because of that one thing I’m permanently stuck like this…” you groaned.

“Well, you can have opportunities to break out, I guess,” said Yoongi. “If you hate being chained down that much…”

“Oh, I know.” You leaned in towards him, almost uncomfortably close. “I wanna see what being kissed is like.”

“Eh?” Yoongi asked. “Wait, are you insane?” His pale face started to flush. “That’s literally the most unoriginal thing you can do!”

“Yeah, and that’s precisely what I am. Unoriginal,” you replied. “I haven’t even been kissed before, so… I guess I’ll take my chances.”

The two of you just stared at each other in silence.

Pretty awkward.

“Well, just kiss me, you idiot,” Yoongi drawled softly and you let out a sigh of exasperation.

“I just told you I have zero experience in kissing and you expect me to do it now?” You asked in a mock-offended tone. “I think you’re going to need to take charge, not me.”

Yoongi sighed, but he closed the distance and pressed his lips to yours. His lips were soft and still firm.

It was nice. You wouldn’t have minded if the kiss lasted longer, but Yoongi pulled back and affectionately patted your head.

“There you go. Feeling like a rebel now?” He chuckled.

“...” your face was incredibly flushed, but you giggled. “Nah, I feel pretty nice as it is.”

“Oh, so you aren’t gonna rebel?” Yoongi asked. He seemed a little apprehensive when he asked it, almost a little doubtful.

“Still thinking about it,” you replied. “Maybe I will, maybe I won’t.”

Well, it turns out that the world seemed to have had plans for you, because you had gotten the Metaverse app on your phone that day.

“How... the fuck are you still alive?” asked Hoseok.

You were friends with Hoseok for awhile before you’d started dating Yoongi. You confided in him some of your secrets-- like the Phantom Thief thing. He was alarmed, but he was more or less open to it and told you to watch yourself.

You had later decided you really should’ve listened to his advice.

You sat across from him, covered in bruises and wounds. Your arm was tightly bound in a sling, and you looked like you’d just had the best experience of your life-- or maybe that was the adrenaline you were still feeling.

“Phantom Thieves never reveal their tricks, you know,” you responded.

“Yeah, but you basically told me that you were literally shot by your… your ex?” Hoseok cocked his head. “I’m just… a little skeptical. Even if it’s like… in another world, no human survives something like that.”

“Well… I suppose you could say it was my bonds that made me pull through,” you said.

You remembered what had happened. You were shot. But then you heard a voice in your head patiently reminding you that you couldn’t give up, that you had to do something. You gave yourself a mental pat on the back for always talking to people and maxing out social links where you could.

“I… I see,” Hoseok said. He paused. “I’m… sorry about Yoongi, by the way. Didn’t think he was like that.”

“People have funny ways of showing their true natures,” you said, sighing. “So it’s not your fault. I’m just surprised I didn’t see it sooner.” You got up, slinging your backpack over the shoulder that wasn’t injured.

“Hit me up if you need anything, I guess,” said Hoseok. You smiled slightly.

“Will do.”

You walked out of the cafe that you and Yoongi had always spent your time in, and as you walked down the street you could have sworn you saw a flash of distinctive mint hair.
