Melanie POV
Well, we finally made it to school being only 10 minutes late - I think that's a record! The teachers are used to use being late now so they've given up with detentions - yay. Right, time to check the work schedule.....
Period 1 = Mathematics
Period 2 = History
Period 3 = Biology
Period 4 = Lunch
Period 5 = English
Period 6 = Physical Education (Advanced)
Not too bad I suppose (though Maths to start is not the one). I begrudgingly start walking to Maths with Rose trailing behind me still examining her timetable. Just as we reach the door to the classroom, I feel a shiver down my spine. I think nothing of it even though wolves never get cold. I don't bother knocking on the door – I mean, who does these days?? I casually open the door and strut my way round the room looking for an empty seat. Oh great, no seats next to each other for me and Roe. I stroll right to the back of the room and sit in a chair not looking to see who I’m next to. After putting my bag on the floor, I eventually look up.
Everyone is staring at me, including Michael who I just notice is in the class (yay, someone to copy off of!), some in amusement and others disapproving. The teacher, Mrs Bickerton (Mrs B for short) was obviously included in the latter.
“I suppose I shouldn’t even bother asking why you’re late Miss Peters. I’ll just get the same old excuse. What was it this time: your fish ran off with your car, or your pet ant needed to be taken to the vet?”
Damn, she’s good with her sarcasm. And I only said that ant excuse once….. Anyway, coming back to the matter in hand.
“Sorry Mrs B. Car wouldn’t start?” I try questioningly.
“Nice try. Considering you guys walk to school, I find it hard to believe. I’d like to see some more effort from you Miss Peters. And you too Miss Rosemary Bloom. Anyway, as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, we have a new student with us. Darren, would you like to introduce yourself?” Mrs B said directing the question towards the back of the room.
The chair next to me scrapes the floor as he stands up. I don’t bother looking at him, I mean, it’s not as if he’ll be anything special, right?
I then hear a deep, husky and surprisingly sexy voice speak from above me.
“My name’s Darren Cooper, I’m 18 and I’ve just moved here with my family for my Dad’s job. Yeah, and that’s my life in a nutshell!”
As he seats, I happen to glance up to see who could possibly speak in such a warm, seductive tone. My eyes work my way up his body, resting on his abs clearly visible through his shirt. I then slowly but surely raise my eyes to his face and immediately my thought process is lost.
With his scruffy but well-kept brown hair, his perfect shaped nose and his magnificent soft looking lips I can’t help but stare in amazement. However, what really stand out to me are his startlingly dark green eyes. I gaze up into his eyes getting lost in the depth of them with their hidden sparkle and little glimmers of brown. As I break eye contact to once again take in his appearance, my eyes linger on his smooth lips and I can almost feel myself getting pulled towards them. As I close the distance between us, I can’t help but breathe in his intoxicating scent. He spells of cologne with a slight scent of mint and coffee. I feel as if I could drink in his scent all day.
Suddenly, I hear a chuckle which breaks through my trance. I suddenly realise where I am and look down embarrassed. I feel a hand under my chin forcing my head up so as to get eye contact. Darren gazes into my eyes with a small smile on my face and says two words.
“Found you.”
Darren POV
I lay back in my chair barely listening to what the teacher said. What was her name again; Mrs Brawn? No…. ah Mrs Bickerton, that’s it! Anyway, why anyone would want to be taught by her I don’t know – she’s such a bore.
Whilst musing upon this, I hear the door open and shut and glance up to see 2 girls rushing through the door, one sitting next to me. I suddenly smell a sweet scent in the air. It smells like vanilla, raspberries and cream all mixed together. I inhale deeply. One of my dad’s comments spring to mind; “A mate’s scent is like a mix of all your favourites thing and no matter how many times you smell it, it never grows too sickly sweet for you.” I can’t believe it. My mate is in this very school somewhere, waiting for me to discover her.
Being so engrossed in my thoughts, I abruptly awaken from my daze as I hear my name being called out.
“Darren, would you like to introduce yourself?” the teacher asks.
Even though I’d much rather carry on thinking about my mate, I stand up and start to begrudgingly explain a bit about myself.
“My name’s Darren Cooper, I’m 18 and I’ve just moved here with my family for my Dad’s job. Yeah, and that’s my life in a nutshell!”
As I go to sit down, I glance at my neighbour and watch with amusement as she admires my body. I watch as her eyes work their way up my body stopping on my face. I hear her take an intake of breath and then I properly look at her.
I get lost in the warmth of her chocolate brown eyes which hold a mischievous twinkle, which are framed by her long, luxurious lashes. I follow down her face glancing at her cute button nose, and am captivated by her soft, luscious looking lips which just make me want to lean down and kiss her for hours. Her flowing brown hair cascades like a waterfall to her shoulders. As I appreciate just how flawless she looks, I inhale a strong fruity scent of berries with vanilla cream and realise that the heavenly scent I smelled earlier was in fact hers.
She’s so beautiful, and perfect in every way…. And she’s all mine.
“Found you.”
