Michael POV
Damn, I can’t believe I said all that; I’m so stupid!
I keep walking out the house and skirt around the edge of the woods till I’m at a cliff edge overlooking a huge, silent lake. I sit down with my legs hanging off the edge deep in thought.
Before I can stunt my trail of thoughts, they take me back to what happened earlier this day.
FLASHBACK TO SCHOOL
I hurry along, trying to get to IT early so I can do some research before the lesson starts. As I walk along, a sweet scent of caramel goes up my nose. Ahh, heaven!
I follow the scent round the corner and come face to face with Max Carter who takes one look at me whilst sniffing the air and his facial expression turns from one of happiness to disgust.
“Eugh great, just what I want; the little worthless gay boy. Do you know how much of a weakling you are – call yourself a boy Michael? More like a weedy little mouse. Go on, scurry off to your friends….. Oh wait, you don’t have any! How useless you must be.”
Then, before I can even comprehend what he said, Max punches me in the stomach, forcing me up against the wall. I fall to the floor and he kicks me ‘accidently’ in the ribs before rushing past me.
I feel the tears starting in my eyes as I see my one love, my mate beat me and then walk away without a care in the world.
BACK TO MICHAEL ON CLIFF EDGE
Yet again, I feel the tears trailing down my face as I get so caught up in the memory. I was foolish to think I’d be good enough to have a mate who loved me.
I hear a snap behind me of a twig breaking. I swivel round to see Andrew coming towards me his face full of concern. He comes to sit next to me and asks
“Come on Mich, what’s wrong? And don’t say nothing, I know you. Spill.”
I look away from him and face the lake saying “I found my mate.”
I hear a gasp in astonishment as Andrew realises what I said.
“Really? That’s awesome dude. When do we get to meet her?”
I take a big gulp knowing that my answer has control on whether I have anyone who loves me in my life.
“It’s not a her. It’s a..... him.”
“Ah right. So when do we get to meet him?”
I look up amazement to see Andrew looking at me with a slight smile on his face.
“Wait, you don’t mind or care that my mate’s a guy?”
“Of course not Mich; what do you take me for?! If it’s who you’re meant to be with for life then it’s who you’re meant to be with! So, who is he?”
I look down in sadness before saying
“He’s no one. He….. He rejected me. Because I’m a boy.”
Andrew reaches over towards me to spin me round facing me. He reaches over bringing me in to a hug murmuring
“Oh Michael. If he doesn’t want you then he clearly doesn’t deserve you. I think you should either go after him, try to change his mind; I mean, he’s your mate and someway deep inside him, he wants you. Or you should just forget about him and move on. I’m sure you’ll find someone else who’s much better for you.”
I lift my hands and push against his chest, and turn away from him covering my face with a blank, emotionless mask.
“Look Andrew. I appreciate you trying to help me but I’m fine, really. Just go back to the house, and to the family who need you. I’m just a waste.”
My voice sounds detached, even to myself. Andrew goes to put my hand on my shoulder whilst saying
“Michael, don’t say that. You deserve family just as much as every other person.”
I shake his hand off my shoulder, walking away and say
“Just go Andrew.”
I hear a sigh, and Andrew starts walking away until I hear his footsteps fade to nothing. My cold, blank mask disappears off my face once more and I collapse onto the floor in tears.
*This is an idea I have for another story once this one is finished; what do you all think?? Please comment and let me know as I won't write it! Thanks for reading :)*
