(Told in Shadow Morty's POV)
Morticia and I are the best of friends, first off. She was the only one who didn't call me a freak. I knew she wasn't like me, a chipped Morty. Yesterday she did something I never thought and I doing, removing the chip myself. Today Daycare Rick took her to the outside area along with the other chipless Morty's. He thought I still had my chip on. When they left I snuck out the door before it shut. I saw another Rick with Daycare. That other Rick was choosing one of those three to be his Morty. I heard Daycare suggest they fight for it. Morticia was sure to win, she was second in the Daycare Fight Club championship. The other Rick agreed to it and all the Morty's went into a corner. While they were fighting, I thought about making my final attempt to escape. Well I THOUGHT about it but I wanted to see if Morticia would win or not. She was stood up when I looked back, she had won. The Rick took her out the door, it was my chance. When she left I followed her on the ground, acting as her shadow. I've done it before, it always sends a chill down her spine when I can't keep up with her movement. They had stopped at salesman Rick's shop so her Rick could buy some chips. I heard him talking to Morticia. I couldn't make out most of what he was saying.
"-don't like the chip do you?" That's all I heard him say, I saw terror on her face turn into a smile. They were walking to the main portal, I got up off the ground and walked behind them since nobody noticed I was there. I was moving out from behind her when she shivered again. I whispered to her; "Don't leave me...." and she grabbed me. It was strange I thought nobody could touch me, but she could.
"Shadow?!" She yelled causing her Rick to become alert and turn around. He looked at us both and asked how I got there. Morticia explained to him what happened, once I told her about what I did. He offered to take me with them because we were inseparable. She agreed to let me come with the two and that point we both had new Rick's.
