I pull the car into the park beside the small cafe slash book store. "Aubrey we're here." I say looking into the rearview mirror. "Cookies!!" Aubrey says clapping her hands and thrashing her legs around. I get out of the car and open up Aubrey's door. I start unbuckling Aubrey from the car seat and set her down when I'm finish. Once her feet touch the ground she starts to run towards the door. "Hey! You know you're supposed to wait on me." I say marching towards Aubrey grabbing her hand and pulling open the door.
We both step inside the shop hit with the aroma of coffee beans. I look around the shop and notice a lot more kids had come today. Then I see Sam, the store owner, walking up to us.
"Hey guys, you're just in time for the sit and read for the kids. Eric finally agreed to read a story to all the children. So Aubrey why don't you run on over." Sam says motioning towards the adjoining book store.
Aubrey looks up to me for confirmation. I give her a head nod before letting her hands go. Once she is free from my grip she takes off. I then face towards Sam who starts for the coffee counter. I walk up and sit onto one of the stool asking the counter.
"So how have you been?" Sam ask resting get elbows on the counter. "Everything us going pretty well. I'm grateful for all the help I get from everyone."
Sam is one of my best friends. I met her when me and Aubrey came to buy her first book. Then came Sam and Eric, the most beautiful married couple ever, to help us find a book. After finding a book they invited us for coco and cookies and we became friends. Then I told them my story of being a single mother and we became even closer. Now Sam and Eric try to help out as much as possible.
"How did the date go? The one Gabby set up for you."
"Don't even get me started. I may just die of boredom from telling you." I say laying my head on the counter. "Hahaha. Now I have to hear about it. Why don't I make you a mocha to keep you awake." Sam says already getting started on the mocha. "Please, the story's not getting fat without it."

After telling about my date give bland and waiting for Eric to finish the story. Aubrey and I were ready to go book shopping.
These is probably the best thing about Aubrey. She loves books. She really loves picture books about dragons. They just fascinate her to the core.
"Momma, are we getting a book now?" She says pulling on my hand. "Yes dear, we can get a book now?"
I swear she had the patience of a three year-old. Oh yeah she us a three year-old.
"Aubrey you must slow down. The books aren't going to grow legs and walk away. Trust me." I say before running into a hard wall and falling onto the ground. "Ouch. Aubrey this is what happens when you rush."
"Are you okay? I didn't mean to run into you." A smooth, deep voice says above me. I look up to see the most handsome man on the planet.
How do I know he is the most handsome. I just do. Don't question it.
Anyway, he has his hand out for me to grasp. I put my hand into his large one and he lifts me up with ease. "I'm so sorry to have run into you. My nephew is high off sugar and will not sit down. I swear I'll have to sedate him before the day is over." The stranger says laughing at the end.
I look down noticing that we are still holding hands. I slowly slip mine from his missing the warm feeling. I lay my hand beside my thigh feeling a blush rolling onto my cheeks. "No it's fine. My little bugger is running around crazy too." I lift up my hand for a handshake, "Well it was nice running into you, literally. Hope you find your nephew."
The stranger comes in for the handshake, but stops halfway through looking behind me. "There you are you little troublemaker." He says dashing for a chubby little boy trying to hide behind a book shelf. Halfway down the aisle he turns back around and yells, "It was nice meeting you. My name is Jack, by the way." Before going back to the chase. I turn back around remembering that I had left Aubrey to run around by herself. I start to walk towards her favorite section, the dragon books.
As I walk there I unconsciously start rubbing the palm of my hand. The one that mystery man, Jack, had touched.
