"Mom, all right... Now enough," I said for the umpteenth time, but my Mom didn't want to leave me alone.

"Come on Michael, get it right! You must be perfect if you want to impress some girl!" exclaimed my enthusiastic mother, still struggling to arrange the jacket just put. Already to impress...

Too bad I don't care for any girl. Or rather, I'm interested in someone, but that someone is not a girl, but my best friend. That's right. It has always been a strange situation to find myself in front of him, or only in his company. From the first day, I saw him. Look at those few smiles that do, hear him laugh or just see him live... Every fucking time I meet his eyes and his eyes I understand that I fell in love with him. I don't even know how I couldn't realize it if every time I was close to him something strange was awakening, an emotion that I could not explain in words.

Tonight is my moment.

I don't know if he spares or not, but I have to face it, and I will understand if he doesn't feel what I feel.

My mother brought me back to reality with a: "Perfect, you're beautiful, honey", smiling, she rushed to his feet, taking my little sister in her arms, and then calling Nancy: "Nancy, are you ready?"

"Yes, Mom! I'll be right there" she warned from the floor above. Looking at me for the last time in the mirror, I grimaced and headed for the door of the house, from where we will soon emerge. Nancy makes her entrance wearing a Scottish dress and her hair gathered in a tuft: "Okay we can go then!" Mother exclaims, looking proudly at her daughter who smiled in turn. We went to the car, meanwhile, Nancy came up to me and, seeing me nervous, began to talk: "Are you nervous?"

"What? No! Not at all" I said, exchanging a glance with her, who immediately said, "Are you nervous about Will?"

"What!" I exclaimed once again. It could be that something in his company has come out of my mouth...

"Mike, I'm not stupid, I see how you look at him, and those looks are not of a person looking at his best friend," she said. I didn't answer, I imitated to look at the ground and then realized that we had arrived at the vehicle.

"Be careful, I recommend you, I'm going to take you around 11 pm, and I don't accept discussions!" Mom exclaims, as soon as she finds a place to let us get off:

"Sure, Mom" Nancy answered for both of them. We say goodbye and we go to school.

Before entering,

I sighed to relax. I had to stay calm.

"Hey, quiet okay?" my sister told me to reassure me. She nodded and together we passed the front door that separated the outside with the inside of the school. I look for my friends with eyes, known Lucas and Max who dance in total tranquility, without giving weight to all the other people there. Dustin tried to pick up some girls with his new tuft at Steve Harrington, but without success.

As for Will, he had not yet arrived.

Well, I have a bit more time to think about what to say without saying crap. I find a seat, and I decide to stay there.

I don't have time to start making a speech, that I see him enter the room, and then come against me with a smile on his face, it was really beautiful when he smiled.

"Hey, h-hi Will" I start to say standing up, obviously stuttering. In this period I often stutter, especially if I'm in the presence of Will.

"Hey!" the boy greets me. It creates an awkward silence among us, and to break the ice I keep talking:

"I have to talk to you" I realize only now, that we had said it together.

"Okay, first you," Will said, looking away, not looking at me, but I refused:

"No, first you."

"OK, uhm... I wanted to tell you that-" the boy starts, but someone interrupts all of this:

"Hey, zombie boy! Do you want to dance?" she was a girl. How was this allowed to come from nothing and ruin this moment!

"I really do, I-" Will said, but I interrupted him:

"Go ahead, we'll talk later" he looked at me and I couldn't help but meet his eyes again, those fucking eyes.

"Then?" the girl asked impatiently. The boy nodded and went off to the dance floor with that girl.

You're stupid, Michael!

I followed him with his eyes and seeing that scene he felt something in his chest, like a twinge.

Realizing what I had done, I went back to sitting, staring at the ground, not staring at those two.

"Mike!" I hear Eleven calling me, I raise my head and see her smile.

"El, you look fantastic!" I told her, complimenting her. I smiled at her, and she returned my smile but she also realized that I had something wrong:

"What do you have?"

"Nothing, I'm fine, I replied. The girl reached out until she can touch my cheek, and take out a tear. "Are you crying?" from this question, I cleaned me with the sleeve of my jacket. I can't believe I arrived at this point.

Eleven take a look at Will and the girl: "Why are not you dancing with him?" she continued with another question.

"Because I told him it was fine, I'm a perfect idiot!" I exclaim, she gives me one last look: "You try to go to Will".

I look at it for about two seconds, and one is right. I have to try, at least try to tell him everything. Finding the courage. I get up and settle down, take a deep breath and start towards him.

"Excuse me," I start referring to the girl who looked at me in a strange way: "Could you, in short, leave us alone?" I continued in total embarrassment.

I could feel my cheeks burning. The girl didn't answer, she smiled at Will and left leaving us alone:

"So ...?" Will began, not understanding what I had done. I looked at him and without thinking for a moment, I took him to the sides, approaching me.

"W-What are you doing ?!" he said stammering. We were both embarrassed, this is true, but we didn't stop looking into each other's eyes:

"You do not see it? I'm dancing," I continued, letting myself be carried away by the song that was playing at the moment.

"Everyone is watching..." the boy continued, embarrassed by the situation.

"I know, but I don't care," I concluded, staring for a second on his face, I thought about how to kiss him, feel the taste of his lips on mine... I've always wondered.

Without warning, I approached him, and kissed him. The heart was always there to beat like a crazy herd, only when I detached my lips from his, finally I said:

"I love you, Will Byers"

"I love you too, Mike Wheeler"
