Chapter 3 birth of the legendary chief

Javan was happily married to Sirbriena. "My love, someday we will have a cub of our own." Javan said.

Sure enough a couple of years later Sirbriena became pregnant. They were very happy to be having a cub.

Sirbriena is like a lot of pregnant women. Morning sickness, nausea, back aches, cramps, mood swings, hot flashes, swollen ankles, head aches, tiredness, and cravings.

She was happy Javan was there to support her. The cub was going to be born in the Winter according to the doctor. 

Javan knew Autumn was almost here the time for the tigers and for many other clans would gather and store food. For the long hard winter.

"Don't worry Javan I'm sure our cub will be fine." Sirbriena said.

The cub would arrive very soon. They found it hard to wait.

Their friends from Thundera came to visit. "Hello, Claudius my friend." Javan said.

Sirbriena came out. Javan came over. "Careful now dear," Javan said.

"Quit being so overprotective I'm not helpless just pregnant." Sirbriena said.

"Congratulations you two someday we hope to have a cub of our own." Leonara said.

"Yes someday we will," Claudius said.

"Javan we need to go hunting now, winter is here and we need extra meat because Balino the oldest tiger says this will be our toughest winter." Caspin said.

"Understood, send some tigers also to forge for extra winter fruits and berries," Javan said. He turned to Sirbriena. "I'll be back soon my dear." he said.

"Be careful my love." she said.

"Don't worry about thing Javan we'll stay with your wife," Claudius said.

"Yes we can make sure everything is going to run smoothly." Leonara said.

"Thank you I should be back before sun down." Javan said. Then Javan and some of the other tigers went off.

Sirbriena began to do some of the house hold chores. "Hey shouldn't one of the other tigers  be helping with this?" Claudius asked as he stopped Sirbriena from doing the heavy work. 

"No, it's normally Javan who helps, but since he is out I must do it myself." Sirbriena said.

"Sorry," Claudius said.

"Well I could use a little help it's not easy doing some of these chores while pregnant." she said.

"Then we can help you tell us what we need to do." Leonara said.

Leonara began to help Sirbriena with the dishes. "Oh!" Sirbriena said holding her middle.

"Are you okay?" Leonara asked.

"Yes I think so, the cub just kicked rather hard." Sirbriena said.

"Should I go out and find Javan?" Claudius asked. 

"No everything is fine," Sirbriena said.

"Are you sure?" Leonara asked.

"I'm sure,"Sirbriena said. 

A bit later Sirbriena shrieked. Councilman Caspin looked at her. "Calm down Javan said he should be back before sundown." he said.

"Sirbriena are you okay?" Claudius asked.

"The cub is coming!" Sirbriena said.

"Oh dear," Caspin said.

A couple of tigresses helped Sirbriena to the house. 

"We need to get Javan." Caspin said.

"I'll go get him." Claudius said.

"Javan and the tigers should be hunting near the foot of the mountain." Caspin said.

Claudius nodded and rode his mount there. He saw Javan and the tigers coming with their kill. "Claudius what's going on?" Javan asked when he saw his friend.

"Javan, the cub is coming." Claudius said.

"What now?" Javan said. "I better get home," he said.

He hurried off following Claudius back to the village. 

Once in the village Javan rushed to the room and saw his wife in bed panting. "Javan," she said with smile.

"Sirbriena," he said.

"You came just when I need you." Sirbriena said.

Javan held her hand. 

The other tigers waited to hear the news. 

Sirbriena was in labor and in a lot of pain. She was squeezing Javan's hand tight. The midwives wanted Javan out of the room.

But Sirbriena wanted the support of Javan. 

Javan wanted to be there for her and he wondered if he was just going to make it longer. 

The midwives were working getting everything ready. One of them was warming water on the fire while, another got a think warm blanket out for the cub and another got a yellow cord to tie off the umbilical and sharp knife to cut the umbilical.

Then at sunrise the next day crying was heard. "It's a boy!" a midwife said.

Javan smiled at his tired wife who smiled back. 

They watched as one of the midwives clean the crying cub in the warm water. Then dried him off. Then placed him in Sirbriena's arms. 

"Hello little one, mommy and daddy have been waiting for you," she said.

Then one of the midwives carefully picked him up and checked him out. The cub was fussing about it. After the wrapped a diaper on him and wrapped him in a warm blanket.

The cubs eyes were shut tight like any other newborn cat.

"What should we name him?" Sirbriena asked.

"How about Tygra?" Javan said.

"That is a perfect name," Sirbriena said. Then began to nurse her son. 

Once she saw Tygra was finished eating she look at Javan. "Javan do you want to hold him?" she asked.

"Yes," Javan said and took the cub into his arms.

Javan cradled the little cub.

A midwife came up.  "Javan, your friends the king and queen want to see the cub." she said.

"Let them in," Javan said.

Claudius and Leonara came in. 

"Isn't he precious," Leonara said.

"A very handsome young tiger Javan you should be proud." Claudius said.

"Thank you," Sirbriena said.

"I am very proud," Javan said.

"We are going to leave soon I hope young Tygra grows up to be a strong chief." Claudius said.

"Thank you my friend and have a safe journey." Javan said.

"We will," Claudius said.

Now the future of the tiger clan has been born now little Tygra will grow up to be chief.
