It was a good riddance, though. Our previous house was more of a solitary roof than what I can call a humble abode of two people. But, if only I knew we'll be moving out, nagpa-iwan na lang sana ako kay Lola sa Cebu.
"I want you to realize, Macy that moving out from our old town is not a bad thing," rinig kong sabi niya dahilan kung bakit lihim akong napairap sa kawalan. She was just saying that because obviously, she wanted to escape her total blunder there than face and fix it. For once in my life, I fretted. I was worried about being the cliché new-girl in an unknown town. And it’d surely be a massive mayhem living with my hidebound mother. Just great!
I’d like to zip my mouth as hard as I could. I didn't want to requite every broaching she made because I might forget she was my mother and staple her mouth with that that thing on the dashboard.
I wanted to stay at Lola’s, but she kept on insisting that living there was not even on the list, nor an option.
Heaving a sigh, I only leaned on my sit and closed my eyes. I even tuned out her rants and callings on the driver's seat. That was the last thing I wanted to hear before I fell asleep.
When I opened my eyes, I saw her lightly shaking my shoulders saying incoherent words. My eyebrows met and slightly hoisted myself up to be pulled away from her hold.
Expect a lot of hollers, people.
I actually had undergone an in-depth research about this town. Its name, Kalaunan, was based on the family name of the first Town’s Mayor, Mayor Jeffrey Muajes Kalaunan (1946-1949). It was said that the town was known for its ostentatious display of peace and benevolence. Its crime rate was unusually low, as a matter of fact, Kalaunan didn’t have any criminal cases nor small cases like theft, etc… It was suspiciously close to perfection. Napaka-imposibleng katotohanan naman 'yon. I mean, obviously it was.
