the funeral was small

nothing too big.

chosen's mother was convinced it was to be her, her daughter, and her husband that sat through the service.

oh how terribly wrong she was.

when the kids from the hospital showed up, crying and holding flowers, mrs. jacobs couldn't do anything but have a break down.

to some it seemed normal. the funeral part.

but y/n had no idea what was happening. things went by in a blur.

she felt emotions. terrible, heart shattering emotions.

she didn't know what to do. so, naturally, she did the only thing she could.

she laughed.

she had no idea why she felt tears slide down her cheeks.

wyatt took her hand and pulled her into the lobby.

y/n couldn't believe what was happening.

chosen was the boy she had known. he was the boy who was supposed to grow old and tell his kids all about her and their other friends.

in that short two week period of visiting chosen every day, they had become close.

wyatt had no idea how to console the sobbing girl before him.

so, he did what he desperately wished someone would do for him in his times of need.

he wrapped his long arms around the crying girl.

y/n didn't know how to respond, the embrace feeling foreign to her.

it sparked something inside. something forgotten.

it was nice.

it was a small thing she could hold onto in this mass confusion of emotion.

almost like a light in the dark.

but that's too cliche, isn't it?
