he opened his mouth to talk, but no sound came out.

"hello?" she asked again. "look, i know you're on the other line. i can hear you breathing. either say something or leave me alone," she said, irritated.

wyatt cleated his throat. "is this jennifer?" he asked, cringing at how his voice sounded.

"yes? why are you calling?" she asked, her curiously overcoming her.

"um, this is gonna sound crazy. my name's wyatt. i believe i'm your son."

silence.

"i think you have the wrong number," she said quickly, hanging up. wyatt dialed the number again.

"i told you, you have the wrong number," she spat. "please, wait," he said weakly. neither of them said anything. "can i please just see you?" he asked. "once," he added.

she sighed deeply.

"fine. where are you at?" she asked.

"pomona," he replied.

"alright. meet me at omana's tomorrow at noon."

wyatt nodded quickly even though she couldn't see him.

"alright."

with that she hung up. and then wyatt cried.
