My eyes fluttered open and I saw--what looked like--a hand in front of my vision. I couldn't tell if it was mine or someone else's. I was still yet to regain the rest of my senses. I felt like I carried the weight of a million bricks.
My eyelids felt heavy and my vision was blurred. So blurred it was like all the brush strokes of the few muted colours were coming together. I could only hear a piercing sound along with my heart beat. It almost felt like I was thrown into the ocean and was just about to drown. In fact, I wish that was my situation instead. At least I'd be able to predict one or two things that will happen to me, with certainty. I let my eyelids shut, accepting that I don't know what my future holds.
I felt moisture on my lips. Next thing, it felt like my bottom lip was swimming in a tiny pond. Suddenly, I felt the pond rise into my lower gums. It then already felt like a tiny lake. I was afraid it would turn to an ocean and flood into my nose.
Finally, I felt a sensation on one of my shoulders. Eventually, I could feel half of my entire arm. I was able to move it and lean on it resulting in my lip getting out of the water. The water was stickier than I thought.
I tried sucking air into my mouth but my bottom lip was getting sucked in instead. I tried inhaling through my nose and I sensed copper... or was it brass? It smelled like loose coins, the odor invading my nose.
The piercing sound was subduing and I started hearing a man's voice, but I couldn't make out the words. My heart beat drowned out the man's voice. I closed my mouth then swallowed.
I started feeling a sensation on my other arm but it was stiff. That's when I realised that I was tied up. I curled my toes and tried to move my ankles, but they were bound too.
Scrunching up my nose, I opened my eyes once more. I looked under me and it was the cold grey floor. I stretched my jaw and my neck then a crack was heard which resulted in a soft whimper. I slowly put my chin up and saw a head of hair. Long and blonde. I looked at the rest of my surroundings. The walls and all the junk were all mostly grey, except the ceiling consisted of long blocks of brown wood.
I then managed to lay on my right arm. My eyes wandered to the farthest left and I saw a man bending down over something. Or someone.
My hearing cleared and so did my mind. Adam.
I heard wailing and a girl's voice exclaimed, "Y- you won't... !" I couldn't make out the rest of the sentence but it was that someone they-- Adam was bending down over.
My vision began getting clearer and my breathing got louder. He threw something at her and she groaned. Folding my knees, I struggled to bring them up to my stomach.
He then walked over to me and snatched something from a nearby table on the way to me. I began mewling and my breathing quickened.
When he reached me, I could definitely tell by his beat down, dead eyes and prominent lips that it was, in fact, Adam. He crouched down to me and nudged my body to lay on my back. I inhaled through my nose and my mouth almost simultaneously. Water came up my throat and I gagged.
"A- Adam-- " I croaked out and then swallowed.
"Wendy... " he said as his callused hands rested on my arm nearest to him and pulled it towards him. "This.. this is for Anya... " he said and showed me what was in his other hand. A syringe.
My mouth opened at the sight and my body then started shaking. I finally folded my knees without struggle and began wiggling. He gripped my arm and I squirmed harder.
I stopped breathing and screamed. I screamed for my dear life. I was screaming all the air I had in my lungs. My chin went up farthest it could go and I felt the cold of the floor on the top of my head. I writhed against the ropes and most especially Adam's grasp.
