;; Author's Note. It dawned on me that I am probably going to make the story long. And I'm kinda deciding if I should eventually put some smut in it. So stay tuned kids!

I squished my cigarette butt into the bottom of the clay ashtray. I had to think about how to sneak out of state with Spencer by my side. I walked past him, grabbing a quick notebook and pen. After scribbling on the papers getting the ink to come through, I wrote in bold letters at the top:
THE PLAN
Spencer took off his flannel shirt and opened my refrigerator, grabbing an ice cold beer and proceeded to hop on top of my kitchen counter. As he opened the bottle, he stared quizzingly down at the paper. "What's that for?" he asked. "I need to make a plan so that we can both quietly leave." I started to jot down obvious things like food and water. And most importantly, the vehicle.
As I wrote down 'truck', Spencer stared into my eyes. "Uh Oli, you spelled your car wrong. My pickup truck is not going out of the state. Man, its all I've got." I gave him a disappointed look. "Spencer you know we need your truck." He began drinking his beer very quickly, avoiding eye contact. "I have stuff and so do you. I've already decided to leave my stuff behind, most of it." I waited for him to reply, although I knew it would be a struggle to get him to compromise with me.
Spencer hopped off the counter to throw the beer can in the recycling bin. He turned around slowly and headed for another beer. I blocked the refridgerator until I recieved an answer. "Olive, move" he said calmly. I stood my ground, awaiting for compromise. "Olive. Watch out dude. Let me grab a beer." I stayed quiet, and I spread my arms out in front of the refrigerator, implicating my blockage. He reached underneath my arms and lifted me off my feet and placed me onto the counter. I sat quietly, watching his disappointment when he opened the refrigerator and realized he had the last beer. He turned to me saying "Okay fine we can take my truck but you're paying for gas." Feeling victorious, I jumped off the counter and offered to drive to the store for more beer and cigarettes. Spencer willingly followed me through the front door as I grabbed my keys and stuffed some cash in my thin hoodie pocket.
I unlocked the drivers door to my Volkswagen Bug and pressed the button to unlock Spencer's side. As we got in, I placed the keys in the ignition but didn't turn the car on just yet. I put my hair up in a messy bun and put on some sunglasses to not bring too much attention to my face. I lifted up in the seat of the car and pulled down my Nike spandex shorts from riding up in my crotch area. I caught Spencer watching me as I did this. I shot him a look, and he blushed, turning to face forward in the passenger seat. "Ooo Spence. I can feel your sexual tension." He pulled out his phone and plugged it into the AUX cord of my stereo. He stayed silent as he opened the Pandora app on his iPhone, choosing The Neighbourhood radio. Immediately, How by them came on and we blasted it as we rolled down the windows. I pulled out of my parking space as we drove down the streets of sunny Los Angeles.
"I swear I can't stand you sometimes Spencer. You make everything so difficult." I joked as I rounded a few corners into the parking lot of Eddie's Liquor Store. He shot me a look. "You didn't use to say that when we dated.. Well you did.. But you love me." he defended. I knew that I did, and apparently he did too. I handed Spencer some money, but he refused it. I looked at him, completely confused. "What exactly is wrong with you going inside Oli?" I could easily buy my own cigarettes, but I wasn't 21 yet. "I thought you wanted beer..?" I retorted. He thought for a minute before grabbing the money and disappearing inside. I opened my phone, only to find a text from Jo..
"Hey Oli - I need a favor. Text me ASAP."
Everyone needs a favor these days. Jo in particular always needs help out of a bind she got herself into. I pondered whether I would respond. I saw Spencer come out of the store with a 6 pack and two cartons of cigarettes. I started up the car as I replied to Jo:
"Jo this better be good - I have Spencer with me so not now. I'll call later."
I didn't bother to tell Spencer that Jo had texted. They don't necessarily get along, not since the incident, but that's a long story. Spencer cracked open his new carton of Marlboros and lit one as I pulled out of the parking lot. I sent him puppy dog eyes, silently pleading that he light me one. After he placed his cigarette between my lips, I nodded and removed it to flick the ash out the window. "Let's stop by my place, so I can pick up some essentials." Spencer insisted, as he lit a new cigarette for himself. I took a left turn at the stoplight, already knowing the route by heart. Buzz buzz. I ignored the notification in my pocket. The Naked and Famous started playing, masking my phone's buzzing. Buzz buzz. Buzz buzz. Spencer reached over into my hoodie, grabbing my phone. "I wouldn't answer that if I were you Spence." He ignored me as he unlocked my iPhone, and opened my texts. I could see his fingers moving on the keyboard, but he stayed quiet.
"Spence what the heck!? What are you typing?" He remained quiet as we drove on. I already knew trouble was coming.
