When Tiffany wakes up, it's way past noon and she finds herself right by Taeyeon, forehead pressed against her shoulder. She rolls over so she’s on her back, rubs at her eyes and waits for her brain to start functioning properly as her eyes adjust to the light before she rolls over to face Taeyeon again, who's soundly asleep. She's laying on her back, eyes shut and mouth a little open, tiny snores reaching Tiffany’s ears.
She chuckles at her friend, stretches a little and watches her for a while before she grows impatient and pokes her cheek (it's so soft, she thinks, but that's a weird thought so she’ll never tell Taeyeon that she ever thought that).
She pokes her cheek again, and then shakes her shoulder gently.
"Taeyeon-ah, it’s time to wake up.”
The blonde stirs, eyebrows furrowing and arms stretching out above her before she opens her eyes, slowly, like she's still half asleep.
Eventually, her eyes land on Tiffany, and she smiles when noticing the girl lying beside her.
"Good morning," Tiffany chirps and Taeyeon's smile widens.
"Morning," she says, blinking some more. "What time is it?"
Instead of waiting for an answer, she seemingly decides to check for herself. The bed sheets shuffle around them as she reaches for her phone on the nightstand, and then her eyes widen.
"Oh, it's almost 1pm."
Silence settles between them as they let it sink in - wow, they slept for quite some time.
And then they break out in soft laughter, and Tiffany is filled with relief, relieved that they're not back to being awkward.
Once she's fully awake and they’re climbing down the stairs for some late breakfast, both dressed in Taeyeon's clothes, her thoughts starts running again, but she forces herself to not over-analyze things again and instead focuses on putting an end to the growling coming from her stomach.
"Don't worry, I'm leaving," a voice, belonging to Taeyeon's brother, says once they enter the kitchen, and Tiffany glances at Taeyeon to very well find her glaring at the boy.
"Good," she says, making a shoo-ing motion at him like he's a dog before turning to Tiffany. "Fany-ah, what do you want to eat?"
"Oh, anything is fine really..." Tiffany mumbles, taking a seat on one of the chairs around the kitchen island.
Jonghyun slides off his own chair, walks over to the sink to dump his used dishes.
"Nice hair," he says on the way out, walking past Taeyeon and swiping with his hand over her head.
She reaches up to self-consciously flatten her hair, although Tiffany doesn't find anything wrong with it, except maybe that it's a little more messy because of sleep (Jonghyun must only be teasing her - it's kind of their dynamic, she has learned over the years, with them being siblings and all).
"Shut up dip," Taeyeon snaps back and Tiffany stifles her laughter. It's only to her brother that Taeyeon shows her ugly side to.
"Midget," he mutters.
"Dwarf," Taeyeon shoots back.
That shuts him up, and he leaves them alone, exiting the kitchen while grumbling something about it’s the genetics fault for making him short.
"So, is cereal fine?" Taeyeon says, like a switch has been turned she's back to her smiling self.
"Of course," Tiffany replies, and when Taeyeon bustles around in the kitchen for cereal and spoons and juice with a smile her lips all along, Tiffany realizes that she can't stop smiling either.
