My mom is the worst.
I say that without a trace of exaggeration.
She is literally the worst thing there is.
My mother is Yog-Sothoth.
Even though you've probably never heard the name before, Yog-Sothoth is basically the most evil and ancient and powerful entity in the universe. Maybe all the universes...
Some throughout history have known her as The Nameless One, which is sort of a contradiction in terms....
I just call her Mother.
I open the door as quietly as possible, trying not to wake her up. This is much harder than you'd think, because technically Mother is the door ... and the hallway ... and the house itself...
My sneakiness is in vain, alas. The hallway shakes as Mother stirs from slumber...
"What time do you call this?" she bellows.
"Hello mother," I say.
"Don't you HELLO me, young man. You're an hour late!"
For a being who exists outside of space and time, she's awfully finicky about curfew.
"I'm sorry, Mother."
"Sorry? You don't know the meaning of the word. Wait till YOU'VE given birth to a universe or two, then maybe you'll know a thing or two about sorry...
"Yes, mother..."
We're communicating telepathically, in case you were wondering.
"How was work, then?" she says, starting off the usual interrogation.
"Spectacular."
"Scare a lot of people, did you?"
"So many..."
"How many then?
"Umm...."
"Don't try and pull the wool over my eyes, sunshine! Yog-Sothoth sees all and knows all."
"Sorry, mother."
"You didn't even scare ONE, did you?"
"I almost did..."
"Bah! "Almost" doesn't put butter on bread! Why can't you be more like your brother?"
She was referring to David. He was up in the human world, pretending to be a politician somewhere.
"I'm going to my room." I say, angrily.
"That's right. Ruuuun away.... Never mind about your old mum who's been worried sick about you."
Typical guilt trip...
I slam the door.
