The Status Between Us

Chapter 7- The Big News

We are on our way back home and no one inside the car is talking. Lahat kami hindi alam kung paano sisimulan yung conversation. I hated the fact that I have to see that monkey and when kuya made a scene in that bar. Nanggigigil ako sa sobrang inis but I manage to hide it. I know kuya is far angrier than me. He already know what happened before and he didn't like the idea of some other guy hurting his princess. Plus nadagdagan pa when we saw the whole make out thingy na ginawa nila. Yuck! Nakakadiri sila. I regreted knowing him. S e r i o u s l  y.

Maya-maya lang, I heard na humikab si Taggy. I looked at her and magsasalita na sana when kuya started talking.

"What if you continue schooling abroad, princess?" simula nya. I looked at him and sighed. Eto na nga ba sinasabi ko eh. Kaya ayoko ipaalam ang nangyari noon.

"I never thought of studying there kuya. You know that my life is here. Dad even left me with a lot of responsibilities." I just don't want to go somewhere else other than the Philippines. Feeling ko kasi, when I'm here, I am always home.

"I'll talk to Dad about it. We can let someone else manage our business. I just don't want you getting hurt and played before that big day, princess." Yeah right. Ngayon naman he's more excited for that stupid news about me. Hindi nga ako excited eh. I even hated being my father's daughter.

"Shut up kuya. You know it won't happen. I won't let Dad take away my happiness."

"And you know Dad is the boss. What he wants, he gets."

Hindi na ako sumagot pa. Hindi rin naman ako mananalo sakanya eh. Mas iinit lang ang ulo ko. Baka pumanget ako at magparty ang mga panget dahil isa na ako sa kanila. Duh. Never.

Kinalabit ako ni Taggy. I looked at her and I see questions all over her head. Hindi ko na sya hinayaan pang magsalita dahil nababasa ko na yung itatanong niya.

"I did liked the place we visited. Magkano daw ba yung rent nung buong resort?" I asked her while scanning my phone.

"Er.. ano kasi Exy, hindi ko pa natanong yung kakilala ko about that. Akala ko kasi hindi mo magugustuhan yung place kasi nga diba you don't like beaches?" alam na alam talaga ni Taggy ang mga ayaw ko. But I'm doing this for Bee. She loved going to beaches and such while I don't. Bakit? Ayoko lang. Pake niyo?

"Okay. Maybe we will check also for the caterers. May kakilala ka din bang pwedeng mag cater for the food?" I am really avoiding the topic about what kuya said. Ayoko kasi talaga pag-usapan yun eh.

"I think I know some. I'll try contacting them also." Her answer was cold. I know she wants to ask things but she'd rather not dahil kasama namin si kuya.

Biglang huminto si kuya sa harap ng isang restaurant. The place looks familiar and bigla akong kinabahan. Fvck! I never felt this scared before. The last time I got scared was when that bullshit Axe ruined my life.

"Where are we?" I asked him with a raised eyebrow.

"Didn't you check your email?" Pinatay na niya yung sasakyan at akmang lalabas na siya when I held his arm.

"Tell me this is just a simple dinner. You know we've had enough of what happened today. You wouldn't want to bitch me out kuya diba?" Shit I can feel the sweats all over my body. My instincts are telling me na hindi ako dapat pumasok dahil it'll ruin me if I would.

"Expiry Date, you know it's rude to walk away with our business partners right?" then he went out. I knew it! Shit shit shit! Gusto ko ng umiyak, magwala at umalis sa lugar na yun. Naramdaman ko ang kamay ni Taggy sa balikat ko. I looked at her and she got my signal.

Nakalabas na si kuya and he was about to open the passenger's door when the car drove off. Nabigla ako dahil nakayuko ako that time and I can't believe that someone as annoying as Name Tag will be my life saver today. Thank God for her.

Nagkatinginan kami. And without words, we laughed so hard na para bang wala ng bukas. I can't believe we just escaped from hell. Tawa pa din kami ng tawa ni Taggy when I saw my phone ringing. It was my brother. But I don't care. Duh.

Ng medyo malayo na kami sa restaurant, huminto si Taggy and said "sagutin mo na. Malay mo babawiin na niya yung decision niya na kumain dun. Honestly, I don't know what you both are talking about but I know you didn't like it." Ngumiti siya sa akin.

"I love you bitch. You just saved me today." I smiled sweetly to her and answered my phone without checking the caller.

"Yes kuya?" inis kung tanong. I heard a cough from the other line.

"Kuya? Are you sick?" now I heard chuckles. Ghad! Is he playing on me?

"Hey!"

"Hey?" takang tanong ko.

"Ang ganda ng boses. Magkita na kasi tayo." Tiningnan ko yung caller and I realized that it was an unknown number.

"Who are you? Who the fuck gave you my freakin' number?"

"Whooa. Relax baby girl. I don't bite you know?" gago ba to? Nakakabwisit ah!

"Oh really? I don't care you know? I'm hanging up." Akmang papatayin ko na yung tawag when he called my name.

"Expiry Date... I wanna see you. So bad." and there goes me dumbfunded. Literally akong napanganga. And to make things worse, bumilis yung tibok ng puso ko.

Bigla kung pinatay yung tawag. Then I looked at my phone. Napansin ni Taggy yung reaction ko kaya tinawag niya ako.

"It wasn't your brother?" nakatingin lang siya sa daan while driving.

"Hmm..."

"Exy, speak."

Huminga ako ng malalim.

"Taggy, are you ready to be my maid of honor?"

Biglang hininto ni Name Tag yung car dahilan para muntik na kaming mabangga ng isang sasakyan na nakasunod sa amin. Buti nalang hindi dahil baka makukulong kami at this hour.

Hindi ko na siya hinayaang magsalita. Although she was so shocked.

"I'm getting married after graduation. How unfortunate right?" I fake a smile then I looked at the window. Is this all what I get after being such a good daughter? This life sucks big time.
