(Heads up! Most of this chapter is dialogue, so if you don't like Ulchi, then bare with me please!)

Flashback to earlier in the evening, two days ago, ~8-9pm at the train yard...

As the 5th mission was progressing, Kota was surveying the in-person transaction from the shadow of a box 30 meters away. His sharp eyes picked up every movement and as it came to the surprise of many, he had good people reading skills. Just not enough strength to fight hand-to-hand

Yeah, also according to Martel, "the fluffy feline with doe eyes definitely looks intimidating beside beefy, hunks of muscles. Oh look! I'm shaking!". Kota snorted, remembering the snakes' sarcasm.

That was why he was positioned there, crouched down in the night, ready to leap on signal.

He was so going to blame Martel if he got another cramp. The last one took two hour to walk off. TWO agonizing HOURS

Ugh, even thinking about it hurts! It took way too long!

Speaking of time...

It's been over 20 minutes. Not good. Gavin looks ready to explode. Hey, one sec! Why is that man reaching into his-?

A jolt of fear ran up Kota's spine.

-GAVIN!

The scream ripped his throat, piercing the unsuspected silence.

Everything fell from there.

Time warped into split seconds. Someone fell, Gavin was hit, Fenloen caught him and dodged attacks. Greed's carbonized left arm was blocking bullets, right one in someone's chest. Everyone lunged from their posts in rage. It was clear: the exchange was off. They were surrounded. No one knew how it started, who shot first, but the chimeras knew one thing.

They needed to run.

Spotting members in the ruckus, the snow leopard spied out Gavin being lead away through the 7th medical exit planned. He was still breathing. With a sigh of relief, Kota moved his attention to the Red-zone.

I am not that strong. But with the element of surprise-

There.

Using all his strength, Kota jumped across the space, landing behind Ulchi, striking a large burly man in the knees while simultaneously hitting him in the temple. Tko! And the crowd cheers in victory!

The only sound heard was a strangled gargle as the man fell unconscious.

Thump.

-Thanks." Ulchi stood back facing Kota's, overshadowing the younger from the sight-line of the other fighters.

-Don't mention it." Kota dodged a punch. "Better yet, be more careful."

Crack!

The feline gaged as another body fell.

-No promises, kid. The party's just got started.

No matter how many times this happened, Kota'd never get over his nausea. He ignored it, mostly because he trusted his "family". And if they deemed it necessary to unalive someone, he let them.It sounded sick, but he did. Only give loyalty in full. A little something he picked up from his animal half.

-Let's get ya outta here. If Greed finds out about your little "action moment", I'm the one getting m'ah scales kicked.

Rolling his eyes, the snow leopard let the croc weave them through the ruckus towards the smaller crates. Squinting, Kota noticed it looked familiar.

Dame! It's my 3rd lookout. Huh, I'm surprised he remembered.

For once, Ulchi was acting strategically instead of brash. He must have known that it was safer there for them, with the snow leopard being slim and Ulchi guarding. The crocodile chimera plucked him up onto the nearest block.

- Stay here. Till the fight dulls down.

As the kid looked back from between the crates, Kota saw Ulchi turning away.

-Hey! Where you going!?!

Ulchi looked up at him incredulously.

-To fight.

Blink, blink. Head-tilted. Ulchi gawfed.

-You know, the one where you bash heads and try not to die.

-We don't need to kill them.

The crocs face shadowed, suddenly being serious, even with all the chaos surrounding them.

-They knew of Greed's true form, and the deal.

-Yeah, so-?"

-Some saw you."The urgency in Ulchi's voice cut Kota off. "No risk if they're out cold." He cracks his knuckles "Permanently."

Shoulders sagging, Kota sighed.

He's got a point.

-Can I not, at least?" He whispered.

-You'll do it if you must. No excuses.

-Just flipping great...

Ulchi gave a sympathetic look before turning his back completely.

-...Kid... you won't have to if you stay close.

We protect each other. The golden rule.

Suddenly, Kota's eyes sharpened.

-WAIT!

Ulchi raised an non-existing eyebrow.

-I got a plan.

The croc flashed his sharp teeth in a grin.

-That's what I like to hear.
