VERSE 2
Kurt pulls up on the curb and the Kloss family starts to get out their car, excitement radiating on their moods. The Kloss siblings and The Swift siblings deem themselves as cousins considering Scott and Kurt's strong bond are brother-like, but Taylor and Karlie seems to be the closest duo.
The door swings open, revealing an eager Taylor, her blue eyes shining and her lips forming a grin that reaches her eyes, the kind of smile that Karlie missed so dearly for a day and yes, it does sound crazy in Karlie's head. They've been planning to come out since they started dating, but Taylor's uncertainty holds them back. It's been over a year of Karlie's countless whining and Taylor finally gives in. Karlie reasons that she wants to hold her girlfriend's hand when they're taking a walk after school, that she want to shout Taylor's name in the world and any other cliche things someone could say when they're in a secret relationship. Taylor finds it entertaining and she never missed a beat to tease her girlfriend about the 'forbidden' love. Cara, one of their group of friends, is the first person the came out to, getting a response saying that she always knew there was something going on between them. Selena and Abigail were just as supportive as Cara is, and it gave them a boost of determination to fully come out of their dark, suffocating closet. The new motivation gave Taylor a confidence to shamelessly kiss Karlie in public, but of course, not where Taylor and Karlie's family can spot them.
As Taylor runs to her girlfriend's arms, Scott, Andrea, and Austin trails beside her, greeting the Klosses with their usual hugs. Karlie envelopes Taylor's smaller body, her arms engulfing the blonde's waist while Taylor wrapped hers in Karlie's neck. They stay silent for a moment, just enjoying the presence of each other.
"I miss you, idiot," 18 year-old Taylor mutters as she pulls away from their hug.
"I miss you, too," Karlie replies. Taylor twirls a strand of Karlie's hair in her finger as her gaze find Karlie's eyes. Green and blue locked, losing a grasp in the world they're currently in. The girls love the feeling of getting lost into one another's gaze, and Karlie internally pats herself in the back for being the reason of Taylor's bright eyes that could honestly put the stars in the night sky to shame.
Karlie is about to close the gap between their lips but Taylor hastily kisses Karlie's cheek to abstain her actions without hurting her. The blonde completely takes herself off of Karlie, making her way to Kristine for a hug.
Scott pulls Karlie into his signature bear hug saying, "How are you, Karls?"
"I'm great," Karlie beams as Scott let's go of her.
"Your room misses you, young lady. Glad you're back," Andrea jokes as she appears beside her husband with her usual warm smile etched on her face. Karlie knows the meaning underlying her statement, as she practically lives in the Swifts' property, only deciding to come home every Sunday to attend church with her family. But yesterday night, Taylor was invited to Adam's party, which Karlie obviously doesn't want to attend. The two has became closer, back when they were partnered to produce a song together for a project. Taylor assures Karlie that there's nothing to worry about, that she's all hers, but Karlie has her own doubts. Trust is what Taylor believes to be the most important element of a relationship, and she always makes it clear when Karlie is being jealous. They never really fought about it, though. "It's been a while."
Karlie rolls her eyes while she laughs softly.
--------
Taylor drags Karlie into the backyard as soon as the younger girl steps a foot on the foyer, requesting a moment to calm her nerves. They have been sitting under their tree for god knows how long, with Karlie holding Taylor as the smaller girl sits on her lap. Karlie has her phone near them, Sylvan Esso's 'There Are Many Ways To Say I Love You' fills the silence, adding to the tranquility that Taylor desperately needs to calm her nerves, along with Karlie's steady breaths and soothing words, the moon and the stars joining them with their usual brightness, connecting to the two of them. Taylor has her head resting on Karlie's chest as the younger girl runs her hand at the length of Taylor's arm, occasionally singing along to the song that has been playing on repeat.
Soon after, Scott eyes the two in the distance, a knowing smile forming on his lips. "Girls, dinner's ready!" he calls out. Taylor slowly gets into her feet, a glint of nervousness evident as she slumps her shoulder. Karlie follows behind after she grabs her phone when Taylor heads to the backdoor that will take them to the dining room. The younger girl hurriedly leaves a kiss on Taylor's cheek, her way of telling the older girl not to worry too much.
Karlie sits between Taylor and Kristine, easily getting involved into the conversation. The dining room is consists of the elders, Karlie, Taylor, and Kristine; well, it should only be Taylor and Kristine but Taylor insists that Karlie should join them. Austin and the twins are eating in the living room, occupying themselves with television. They all used to eat together in the living room with a movie playing on screen, until Kristine and Taylor turns into their legal age, making them join their parents now to eat.
Taylor doesn't utter a single word the whole time. She busies herself with wine that her parents allowed her to drink, already chugging for her 4th glass. Karlie ever so often places her hand on Taylor's thighs, reassuring her that everything will be fine while she converse with her parents at the same time. Her mind is clouded by the possible reactions that they might receive tonight, hoping that the positive outcome is the one that they'll get.
When dinner is coming to an end, Taylor closed her eyes shut, praying for a while and telling herself that there's nothing to be afraid about. Karlie gazes Taylor, meeting a warm shade of blue. They exchange looks knowingly as Karlie slowly nods her head.
When Taylor clears her throat, making everyone to turn their head in her direction.
"So I uh," Taylor stammers, clearing her throat to steady her voice. Karlie grabs Taylor's hand beneath the table and gives it a reassuring squeeze. "I'm gay," Taylor gulps when she didn't get a response. Silence fills the room and Taylor shifts into her sit uncomfortably. "I mean, uhm, Karlie and I are gay," she adds, now staring at Karlie, urging her to say something else. Instead of a nervous smile that Taylor posses, Karlie has a glowing smile etched on her face.
"We're dating," Karlie says, lifting their interlocked hands from beneath the table, emphasizing what she says. Taylor would've swoon at her girlfriend's adorable move if she only she's not so scared at this time.
"I'm proud of you, sweetie," Scott breaks the silence, his eyes overflowing with support after Taylor's confession. Taylor looks taken a back, obviously expecting for the worst. Karlie pressed a lingering kiss at the back of Taylor's hand, now displaying affection since the whole family already knows. Except Austin and the twins, of course. "Since when?"
"A year and 3 months" Taylor breathes a sigh of relief whenthey all gave her a smile, not a trace of disgust on their faces.
Kurt wipes his mouth with a napkin before turning his attention to his daughter. "Told you all," he laughs softly.
The newly announced couple's looks dumbfounded at Kurt's remark. Scott nudges his best friend, urging him to continue. Kurt sighs dramatically as he placed his utensils down, earning a laugh from the people around him.
"We honestly didn't think you guys would fall in love," Kurt explains as Scott rolls his eyes.
Taylor and Karlie looks even more confused, their eyebrows raising in puzzlement.
"Well, we all figured it out that there's just something special between you two that we can't exactly point out," Scott clarifies. "But don't mind Kurt," dismissing Kurt with a wave of his hand.
"I'm really really happy for you both. Please stay strong, " Tracy gush, clearly overjoyed for the youngest couple in the household.
Kristine stands up and hugs Karlie and Taylor behind their chair, her arms enveloping the couple's shoulder for a warm embrace, "You guys, congratulations! I love you," Kristine chuckles, her cheeks starting to ache from smiling too much. Taylor and Karlie thanked them, their head spinning at the overwhelming support they're receiving.
Andrea, who is sitting right across from Karlie, smiles at her and softly says, "Welcome to the family," she winks. Karlie bites her lower lip to prevent herself from smiling too much while Taylor blushed beside her. They never thought this night will be easier.
