OUTRO
87 year-old Karlie opens the door when she hears a car honk outside of her home. Kristopher opens the car door for his mother while Tiffany runs out of the house to meet them. Kris and Tiffany holds the 89 year-old Taylor, both of them leading her carefully as she climbs the stair of their porch, Taylor's eyes covered in a blindfold.
Karlie giggles at the sight of her wife excitedly, clapping and clasping her hands in awe.
"You look gorgeous, babe," Karlie compliments as she takes Taylor's blindfold off of her eyes, immediately lost in sea of blue that stayed the same throughout the years, still brighter than any star that Karlie could think of. Kristopher smiles at the sight of his mothers looking at each other like nothing ever changed, Karlie never losing the way she stares at Taylor, as if his mama brought the stars in the sky.
"Says the one who takes my breath away," Taylor says, grinning.
"Oh stop it!"Karlie feels her cheek redden as she avoids Taylor's gaze.
Tiffany wheezes at her mommy's reaction before saying, "Kris and I are only a call away if you guys need something. Happy anniversary," Tiffany hugs and gives her mothers a kiss and Kristopher did the same.
"Have a great night, moms," Kristopher waves as he gets inside his car. Tiffany blows a kiss when she slides into the passenger seat. And just like that, they are gone.
Karlie intertwines her wrinkled hands into her wife's as she takes her to the living room. There are several blue and green balloons in sight, the blue ones are hanging off the ceiling while the green ones are scattered on the ground. Taylor chuckles at Karlie's idea, already picturing the field in her head.
The furniture are moved to the side, giving them just enough space to dance. There's a guitar leaning on the wall, and a stereo on the coffee table in the left side of the room. Various of different cookies, cupcakes, and a cake are placed in a small table in the center, and Taylor knows that Karlie made them just by the way it smells.
"Should I grab the guitar?" Taylor asks, looking up at her wife.
"Later," Karlie replies, her eyes shining as she turns her head down to meet Taylor's eyes. "We're going to dance."
"My bones beg to disagree," Taylor jokes. Karlie laughs as she plays a song on the stereo. A soft sound of a guitar fills the room and Karlie hurriedly steps in front of the love of her life, placing Taylor's hands into her shoulders as she places hers on Taylor's hips. They quietly sway into the music, both of them still knows the lyrics of the song by heart despite their aging minds. A pair of blue and green eyes stare into each other, a smile playing softly on their lips. Their eyes reminding the pair of their youth, their history, as well as their love.
Together, they mutter the lyrics that only them can hear but loud enough to beat the stereo's volume.
There are many ways to say, 'I love you'
There are many ways to say, 'I care about you'
Many ways, many ways
Many ways to say, 'I love you'
There are many ways to say, 'I love you'
Just by being there when things are sad and scary
Just by being there, being there
Being there to say, 'I love you'
Cleaning up a room can say, 'I love you'
Hanging up a coat before you're asked to do it
Drawing special pictures for the holidays
And making plays
You'll find many ways to say, 'I love you'
You'll find many ways to understand what love is
Many ways, many ways
Many ways to say, 'I love you'Karlie remembers how she first laid eyes on the smaller girl when they were young, how Taylor hugs her and invites her to her tea party along with her dolls. She can still feel the butterflies when she stares into her wife's blue eyes, especially the day when they got so happy and they produced tears that Taylor can't even stop, and when Karlie gawks at them even though a million of stars shines ahead of her. The way Taylor's lips quivers as she sings the last sentence of the song takes her back in the altar, when they quiver so much that Taylor can't even say 'I do' properly. She can still feel fireworks whenever she closes her eyes and cherish the way Taylor's lips press against her own. They might be old and cranky, but she feels so young when she's kissing Taylor, she feels alive and graceful when she's with her. Forever is an illusion, and she knows that time and age will pull them apart. The thought might be scary, but Karlie learns to accept how life works. She already felt forever with Taylor, she's thankful for having to meet her in her early stages of life, how they grew up together. She thinks that there are no better way that she could've spend her entire life: because her life is Taylor.
"Where'd you go?" Taylor snaps Karlie out of thoughts, the both of them still swaying together even when the music stops minutes ago.
"I was just thinking how lucky I am that I get to spend the rest of my life with you," Karlie replies.
"Would you like to do it all over again? In another life?" Taylor asks.
"Yeah," Karlie nods. "I'll spend all of my given lives with you."
"Together forever?"
"Together forever," Karlie chuckles.
"Great," Taylor laughs softly. "In case you didn't know, I'm really in love with you."
"I'm really in love with you, too."
"I love you, my idiot."
"I love you too," Karlie rolls her eyes as Taylor sticks her tongue out.
"Why did I marry you again?"
"I ask myself the same thing, but I guess we really don't have a choice," Karlie winks. She kisses Taylor's forehead and pulls her wife closer for a tight hug. Taylor rests her chin on Karlie's shoulder as the younger girl pressed a kiss in Taylor's cheek, her lips lingering at the spot.
Their night filled with laughter when Taylor takes all of their photo albums on the couch. The photographs help them remember that things they forget. They reminisce together, laughing and frowning at the memories they both made; either good or bad.
As sleep engulfs Taylor, Karlie stares at the ceiling as she holds Taylor on the couch. She thanks the universe silently for giving her an amazing best friend, wife, and soulmate, even though she thinks that she doesn't deserve Taylor at all but nonetheless, life never felt worse beside a certain blue eyed girl by her side.
